Brand and athlete recently signed a contract, which includes the use of the Furon boot by the player, and New Balance is targeting increased sponsorship for Brazilian athletes
Midfielder Rodrigo Nestor, one of São Paulo’s main revelations in the club’s recent history, is the newest athlete sponsored by New Balance in Brazilian football. The American brand and the 22-year-old player, born in São Paulo, have already signed a contract.
The agreement foresees, among other considerations, that Nestor will use the Furon boot from New Balance in training and games. The model is one of the brand’s main equipment for the soccer segment, and is also used by international stars sponsored by New Balancesuch as the Senegalese Sadio Mané, and the English Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka.
Even at a young age, Nestor already has a successful career in football. He joined São Paulo in 2014 and made history in Cotia, collecting titles and calls up for the U-15 and U-17 categories of the Brazilian National Team. He debuted for the club’s main category in 2020 and established himself the following year, when he became champion of São Paulo. Currently, Nestor is an absolute starter for São Paulo, and is the player with the most assists on the team since 2022, with 14 goal passes.
“Being sponsored by a major global brand is every athlete’s dream, so I was delighted to close this partnership with New Balance. Furon is a high quality boot, which I have already tested and loved, and which will help me to achieve the best possible performance in games”, comments Nestor.
With the contract signed with the athlete, the New Balance expands its actions marketing in Brazilian football. The brand also sponsors the Venezuelan player Yeferson Soteldo, from Santos, and the Red Bull Bragantino team. The American company, however, wants to further expand its presence in the sport.
“The interest of New Balance to sponsor Rodrigo Nestor came about because he has qualities that identify with the brand. He is an athlete who plays for one of the main clubs in national football and who, even at such a young age, already has a track record of success. Our strategy within Brazilian football is to add even more players”, explains Leandro Moraes, brand director of New Balance.
