In 2022, FURIA’s women’s CS:GO team, formed by kaahSENSEI, GaBi, Izaa, Olga and Mari, was dominant on the national scene. In the world, there was only one team tankado Panthers: Nigma Galaxy, who won two ESL finals Impact until the last competition of the year. And the search for international acclaim in Sweden, in the cradle of Counter Strikeand the rush that guides the documentary ‘Gaming Queens‘, which has just premiered on Red Bull TV.
Directed and produced by Beatriz Scavazzini and Ligia Osorio, respectively, the 36-minute film explores the dreams, desires, joys and sorrows of FURIA’s CS:GO women’s team, who delighted fans of e-Sports on the last year. Filmed in Sweden, Denmark and Brazil, the documentary shows behind the scenes of the preparation of the line-up before the ESL dispute Impact, in Jönköping (SE), at the end of November. Daily training sessions from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, positioning details, psychological work by Bruna Airini and friendship beyond the keyboards give rhythm to the narrative.
“We learned a lot about the European scene. I think our game and mind set are different. I am very happy to be here again, putting us to the test”, says Karina ‘kaahSENSEI’ Takahashi, in an excerpt from the documentary.
More than a game
“My challenge was to play my first lan or win my first championship. There, I made it. And I have the challenge of playing on an equal footing with the men’s teams. This one, I’m still in the fight, just like winning the Worlds”, says Izaa.
The phrase expresses one of the main messages that the documentary deals with, so that the line-up feminine serve as an inspiration for women who dream of conquering all the spaces they desire.
In the last year, by the way, the team had more than 1.13 million hours watched, appearing in the Top 10 of the most watched female teams and being the only Counter Strike: Global Offensiveaccording to Esports Charts.
Among the special appearances, Gabs Freindorfer, who returned to the competitive scene, was present in the documentary as one of the advisors and supporters of the team. The content also brings GaBi’s performance during the world final of the Red Bull Flickin Copenhagen (DK), alongside Drop, and how the Brazilian and international scenarios differ, especially in Sweden, which broadcasts CS:GO matches on Open TV.
