ChatGPT, OpenAI’s innovative language model, continues to gain a solid reader base and increase in popularity around the world. Taboola, a company that provides recommendations for open webhelping people discover what they might like, used the Topic Insightspart of Taboola’s real-time audience analytics platform Newsroomto carry out a survey of pageviews on the subject and found that since its launch on November 30, 2022, ChatGPT has experienced significant growth, outpacing other technology trends such as NFTs and Metaverse. The company exclusively provided the results of the study to Adnews.
In Brazil, ChatGPT reports an impressive steady increase in its page views, totaling almost 14 million in the last 90 days. In fact, the country is the second with the highest number of pageviews. The first is the United States, with 25 million, while Spain appears in third place, accumulating 12 million. This significant growth highlights Brazilians’ continued interest in ChatGPT’s capabilities and applications to meet their information and interaction needs.
In contrast to ChatGPT, Metaverso and NFTs have faced a decline in interest from consumers. During the same period, Metaverso recorded only 51,000 page views in Brazil. NFTs have also seen a dip in popularity, with just 17k page views.
global data
These trends reflect the global scenario. With a 325% increase in readership in January 2023 alone, driven by stories about how generative AI works, the language model has proven to be a reliable source of information and interaction. Furthermore, on February 7, 2023, ChatGPT saw an additional 107% increase in just three days, following Microsoft’s announcement about its own competitor in Bing.
Since then, ChatGPT has maintained its popularity, reaching over 58 million page views in the month of April alone. This impressive number reflects readers’ confidence and growing interest in the advanced capabilities of AI.
Meanwhile, the NFTs and the Metaverse continue to lose steam. Between January and February 2023, ChatGPT recorded its biggest gain in readers, with an impressive 116% increase. Over the same period, interest in NFTs dropped by 31%, while the Metaverse saw a 15% drop in engagement.
However, it is important to point out that the NFTs and the Metaverse still maintain some relevance, driven by events that attracted the attention of readers. In January 2023, the launch of Trump’s collection of NFTs caused a sharp increase of 36.2 million page views. Likewise, in December 2022, the launch of Forever 21’s ‘Meta-versary’ collection drove a peak of 24.4 million Metaverse-related page views.
