The Sunday program commemorates the date with a 4-hour special
According to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), open television is present in 99.9% of Brazilian municipalities, being the communication vehicle with the widest national coverage. Naturally, through it it is possible to reach a significant number of people.
Talking about free-to-air TV in Brazil and its modernization, we will also talk about the Silvio Santos Program, which completes 60 years on the air, being one of the oldest programs on Brazilian television. With the idea of taking all of his off-screen projects to TV, Silvio Santos popularized the auditorium programs on Sundays, when he started presenting the Slvio Santos Program from 12:00 to 14:00 on TV Paulista – the station where he started his career, which was closed on Sundays, opening only at 3:30 pm for live football broadcasts.
Unlike other broadcasters in the country, Silvio Santos approached and established a very positive relationship with his viewers, a recipe that generated (and still generates) much success for the veteran. In 60 years, the public has followed hundreds of formats, among them: dating programs, games, contests, musical scenes, scavenger hunts, hidden cameras, welfare actions and much more.
In 2020, preserving his health as a result of the pandemic, Silvio Santos stepped away from the command of the attraction, and as soon as possible, he returned to the stage. The following year, Patricia Abravanel brought new paintings, taking turns with her father in the presentation, always maintaining the main objective that permeates the Silvio Santos Program over 60 years: to bring a lot of joy to all the public, so that Sunday is light , tasty, full of laughter and good humor, bringing the Brazilian family together in front of the TV.
The 60th Anniversary Special
Presented by Patrcia Abravanel, the Silvio Santos Special 60 Years Program will run for four hours and air this Sunday (6/4). In the edition, the past is rescued with the presence of personalities who were part of the program’s history and the remake of old frames, such as In the name of lovewhich aired in the 90s.
Patrcia Abravanel fondly remembers when she received the invitation to present the program alongside her father and says that she did not expect to stay in charge of the attraction for so long. “The production welcomed me with the greatest affection and love, all in respect for the father, I am very grateful for the team”, says Patrícia.
For the edition, all content spaces were filled with brands, which include: Coca Cola, EMS, Ultrafarma, Havan and Oral Sin.
Luciana Valrio, SBT’s commercial director, says that the Silvio Santos Program is of significant importance within SBT in relation to advertisers. “The program, which is now also presented by Patrcia Abravanel, has a long history and has become one of the most popular and long-lasting programs on Brazilian television, being today the most watched on SBT”, concludes Luciana.
