Campaign showed how the woman used the brand’s wireless headphones to ‘listen to her heart’ and love her son
Samsung removed an ad from the air in Singapore after receiving criticism.
The company invited a few people, including a Malay-Muslim woman and her drag queen son, to the ‘Listen to your heart’ campaign. The ad showed how the woman used the brand’s wireless headphones to ‘listen to her heart’ and love her son.
According to The Drum website, the campaign upset some viewers in the Malay-Muslim community in Singapore, who asked Samsung to take the ad off the air – the brand complied with the request and commented in a Facebook post.

“We are aware of feedback that one of our recent campaign films for our products may be seen as insensitive and offensive to some members of our local community. We recognize that we fell short in this case and have since removed the content from all public platforms.
Samsung believes that innovation and growth are driven by diversity and inclusion. We will certainly be more attentive and thorough when considering all perspectives and points of view for our future marketing campaigns.”
