In 2009, while the first high-definition TV broadcasts were taking place, Barack Obama was sworn in as the first black president of the United States and large companies announced mergers, such as Porsche and Volkswagen, Sadia and Perdigão, executive Flávio Horta founded Digitalks, with proposal to hold events in the area of digital marketing. Fourteen years after the first event, held for 250 people in São Paulo (SP), the company expects to receive more than 9,000 people at the São Paulo Expo, destination for the main events in Latin America, on August 23rd and 24th. I don’t know about you, but we’ve already entered the countdown!
To raise even more expectations, as one of the great partners, Adnews has prepared a weekly special about the ‘Digitalks Expo’. Over its 14-year history, Digitalks has become the main Brazilian company in the democratization of digital knowledge, innovation and business opportunities through major events, forums, online TV programs and more than 50 content activities, reaching all capitals and even reaching Portugal.
And the event, in addition to growing, joined forces and became a reference, as explained by the company CEO (Photo).
“In 2017, we made a major transformation of the ‘Digitalks Expo’, both in terms of themes and the event itself. Digital marketing became one of the pillars, worked on the main stage, and we added additional stages to work on other topics, such as technology, innovation, creativity and business. We put digital transformation within Digitalks for different audiences, from top executives to those just starting out in the area”, comments Horta, recalling that the first steps in this direction were taken in 2016, when the event already had three stages.
For ‘Digitalks Expo 2023’, the company announced an even more ambitious step: an unprecedented partnership with Growth Conference Brasil, an event aimed at executive leaders, managers of medium and large teams, agencies and consultants in the Marketing and Sales sector, which takes place since 2018 in the capital of São Paulo. This year, the meeting will be inside the ‘Digitalks Expo’.
“Our relationship with the Growth Conference started a few years ago. We’ve talked a few times and last year we supported each other’s event. Now, we decided to establish this partnership by bringing Growth into Digitalks. It’s one of the themes that grew a lot during the pandemic, and we saw the need to broaden the subject within our event. It’s not a merger of companies, it’s really a partnership”, he says.
The Growth Conference Brasil 2023 will be held simultaneously with Digitalks, with an expectation of receiving around 2,000 people. This is the company’s first experience with an event of this size, but Digitalks has already hosted smaller events in previous editions, which dealt with specific themes.
“If it weren’t for the partners, we would need to assemble an internal team specialized in each area, because you can’t be a specialist in everything. Therefore, we adopted this model of bringing segmented events or creating new events to cover other areas, and this movement tends to be expanded. In the coming years, you will see all sectors of the economy within Digitalks”, warns Horta.
Free Digitalks in the Pandemic
Within the chaotic context of Covid-19, the ‘Digitalks Expo’ migrated to the virtual environment and held two free editions, in 2020 and 2021. The event reached around 23 thousand people per year, a fundamental milestone to consolidate its return to the presence, last year as the area’s big annual gathering.
“During this period, people proved to themselves that they need a face-to-face relationship. One call an hour is not the same as a 10-minute cup of coffee with someone, where you create a close relationship that helps in business”, emphasizes the CEO.

The partnership with Growth Conference Brasil is just the first novelty that ‘Digitalks Expo’ has to announce. Until the event, the complete list of speakers will be announced, which already includes names such as Nathalia Arcuri (CEO of Me Poupe!), Martha Gabriel (writer best seller) and Fred Bruno (journalist, presenter and ex-BBB23) confirmed.
