Next Sunday (11), millions of people will gather on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo (SP), to celebrate diversity in the LGBT+ Pride Parade and, for the second consecutive year, Vivo will be present as a sponsor of the event, consolidating a series of initiatives supported by the brand over the last few years, such as the exhibition ‘Telas do Pride’, at SP-Arte 2023; the exhibition ‘Visual Cartographies for LGBT+ writing’, on display at Espaço Arte Vivo; and the plays ‘A Herança’ and ‘Tom na Fazenda’, which will continue to be shown at Teatro Vivo, where the parade’s press conference will also take place.
“Celebrating and embracing diversity is about living in our time and being aware of the world around us. Here at Vivo, we participate in this conversation in a genuine way, defending technology as a tool to bring the LGBT+ community closer together, both on occasions of celebration, as well as access to rights and other moments”, says Marina Daineze, director of Brand and Communication at Vivo.
With the motto “I Live This Pride”, the brand will take a trio over 24 meters long to the avenue and will replace the traditional LED screens with panels created and made manually by artisans. Throughout the course, there will be presentations by important artists and coverage of creators, all engaged with the causes of the LGBT+ community.
Also as part of the actions, throughout the LGBT+ Pride month, Vivo’s digital channels will bring special content to show how different family configurations welcome and reflect love and live this pride in the family. The brand will also bring a new Instagram filter for people to capture their diverse families and the pride of being part of them.
permanent commitment
At Vivo, the commitment to diversity and inclusion with its internal public is permanent. Since 2018, the company has had a solid diversity program, based on the pillars of Gender, LGBT+, Race and People with Disabilities. For LGBT+ pride month, the company prepared actions to celebrate the date together with its employees. A joint action will be carried out with the health team to talk about the psychological impact of assuming sexuality in a corporate environment. Badge strings with the LGBT+ flag will also be distributed to members of affinity groups, and Vivo will light up the buildings of its headquarters in São Paulo with the colors that represent the cause.
In addition, the company will live internal discussion on LGBT+ issues. The initiative is part of the Vivo Diversity Journey, which every month discusses relevant topics with the entire company. Each subject is accompanied by the launch of a new action, policy or benefit.
The company has also supported its trans employees in rectifying their personal documentation, ensuring the individuality, pride and recognition of each one. At Vivo, trans employees use the social names chosen by them on their badges and email addresses. The company is the first in the telecommunications sector to join the Forum of Companies and LGBT+ Rights and adhere to the Standards of Conduct for Companies, facing discrimination against lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transvestites, trans and intersex people, part of the Free & Equal movement , from the UN (2018). Vivo, which believes in technology as a tool for social transformation, also joined movements such as #MarcasAliadas, in addition to having partnerships with organizations that support inclusion in companies: Transempregos and the LGBT+ Rights Forum.
