The Flash opened in theaters this week, after several back-and-forths. We have been following everything for some time, as if it were a soap opera. Especially with all the issues with Ezra Miller. In other situations, the film would have been put on the shelf. But Warner decided to go ahead with releasing it, “forgiving” the actor’s follies. I confess that I never liked Ezra Miller, neither as a person nor as an actor (I always thought he was too exaggerated). However, he delivers a good performance in The Flash, which premiered this Thursday (15) in theaters. And the film, even with its problems, entertains.
Facts about the movie
- There are several cameos in the film, and most of them have to do with the DC universe. Michael Keaton is one of them. At age 71, he became the oldest actor to play Batman in history.
- The Cyborg character would play a major role in the story as well. But in 2021, he was dropped from the script in likely reprisal for accusations of a hostile environment at DC that actor Ray Fisher has made in the past.
- Billy Crudup was to reprise his role of Henry Allen (Barry’s father), but had scheduling issues. He was replaced by Ron Livingston.
- Bruna Marquezine and Isis Valverde were finalists for the role of Supergirl. But, because of the pandemic, they couldn’t take a chemistry test with Ezra Miller in London, so Sasha Calle was chosen.
- The Flash and Aquaman 2 will be the end products of Zack Snyder’s Justice League era. From then on, DC movies will undergo a major rebootwhich is directed by James Gunn.
- The film has an after-credits scene, which is not very important to the story, but which is fun.
- Due to Ezra Miller’s personal life scandals, the film was almost in danger of not being released in theaters. This includes violence and harassment of minors. At the time, Warner executives announced that Ezra would not do future projects at the studio, neither DC nor others. However, at the film’s premiere, the actor thanked new studio executives “for their grace and insight and care for the context of my life, and in making this moment come true.”
