The second day of the Festival provided the stage for more relevant and current issues
The second and last day of the 2023 LED Festival was marked, once again, by necessary and relevant discussions for Brazilian society today, always focusing on the country’s education.
With the mediation of journalist Kenya Sade, guests Jonathan Ferr, Morena Mariah and Tina Calamba put Afrofuturism on the agenda. The table The black future. Reimagining education through the lens of Afrofuturismpointed to Afrofuturism as a powerful tool, especially in the classroom.
I think that the more we learn about the past and find out about ourselves, the more our present will become black. The more we are represented, the blacker we will be in the present, says Morena Mariah, an expert in Afrofuturism.
On the stage LED Inova, held at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), Poliana Abritta facilitated a chat with Christina Xavier and Regina Luz about female protagonism.
The table “How many days does a woman make? Female protagonism in education”began with a reading of poetry by Conceio Evaristo by teacher and writer Regina Luz, mother of singer Larissa Luz.
So many women were silenced and did not have this space to speak. As an example, I quote Maria Firmina dos Reis, who in the 19th century could not sign her articles because of the macho patriarchal society. And today we are having the opportunity for dialogue, I am feeling respected, says Regina Luz, teacher and writer, mother of singer Larissa Luz.
The participants emphasized that, although female protagonism is gaining strength, they still see that the female population is still more burdened with the task of educating their children, in addition to household chores and occupation of various roles in everyday life.
We women are multiple and we are still mothers. I relied on my mother (the actress Chica Xavier) all my life, and on a collective of other women so that I could become a master in biochemistry and a doctor in health surveillance, says Christina Xavier, scientist, mother of actress Luana Xavier.
Coming to the subject of technology, in the beginning of the afternoon the table “Revolution or “fashion”? How artificial intelligence is transforming the ways of teaching and learning”mediated by journalist Andria Sadi with the participation of guests Bianca Kremer, Felipe Castanhari and Martha Gabriel.
Martha Gabriel opened the conversation with a positive talk about the use of Artificial Intelligence. Any technology transforms our reality and gives power if we know how to use it, highlighted the executive and consultant in the areas of business innovation and digital transformation.
Felipe Castanhari presented questions about the harmful effects of AI. Bianca Kremer, professor and researcher in law and technology completed the youtuber’s speech with pertinent comments. I think it might be interesting for us to recalculate routes to think about what kind of technology we want to project for ourselves, for our society and for our economic development, emphasized Bianca.
Guests ended the conversation by looking for hope and ways to engage all people, from all cultures and all genders, in discussions of the impacts of AI.
Despite the closure of the Festival, all conversations will be available free of charge to the public in a track on Globoplay.
