This Thursday (22), the departure of journalist Daniela Lima from CNN Brasil was announced. The decision to leave the station would have come from the journalist herself, who has just signed a contract with GloboNews.
At CNN Brasil for three years, Daniela quickly became one of the main names of the news channel and shone in most of its special coverage. Before working at the station, she had already distinguished herself as a presenter on Roda Viva, on TV Cultura, and as a reporter and columnist for the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
Compared to its original project, CNN Brasil gave up several well-known names that had been hired for its programming. But, Daniela seemed untouchable. Columnist Flavio Ricco, from R7, reported that political issues could be the cause of the resignation, but that the information was not confirmed, and that the atmosphere behind the scenes at the station had not been good for some time, due to interference in the editorial line.
The broadcaster issued an official statement on the departure of Daniela Lima, which you can see below, in full.
“CNN Brasil and Daniela Lima communicate that they decided to end the contract amicably, at the request of the journalist.
Hired to design the project, Daniela Lima was instrumental in implementing and consolidating CNN in the country. An excellent reporter and presenter of rare talent, she has been the protagonist of political journalism since the broadcaster’s debut in March 2020, and has become a reference for countless professionals.
CNN Brasil and the audience that accompanies her thank Daniela Lima for her companionship and commitment and wish her luck and success in her next challenge.”
While CNN Brasil says goodbye to Daniela, GloboNews also issued an official statement welcoming the new hire and announcing the journalist’s next challenge, which begins in July at the station. See the statement below, also in full.
“Starting in July, GloboNews will have a series of novelties in its morning and Sunday programming. Known for her tireless search for exclusive news, the experienced journalist Daniela Lima arrives at the channel to further enrich the women’s team of Conectao GloboNews, which is anchored directly from three of the main capitals in the country. From São Paulo, the journalist will share command of the newscast, which will be shown from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, with Leilane Neubarth, in Rio de Janeiro, and Camila Bomfim, in Brasília.
Daniela has worked for the country’s main newspapers, such as Folha de S.Paulo and Correio Braziliense, and for Veja magazine. On TV, she debuted as presenter of the show Roda Viva, on TV Cultura. Her last job was as an anchor for CNN Brasil.”
On her Twitter account, the journalist also announced the news, taking the opportunity to thank the CNN Brasil team for the learning experience.

The hiring of Daniela Lima is just the first of several novelties that the news channel intends to implement from July.
In programming, Em Ponto airs from 7:00 am to 9:30 am and is now led by Mônica Waldvogel and Tiago Eltz, focusing even more on political and economic coverage, a demand from the public at that time. With more than 40 years of career and at GloboNews since 2006, Mônica was editor-in-chief and presenter of Jornal Hoje and Jornal da Globo, and passed through the stands at Bom Dia São Paulo and Bom Dia Brasil. Tiago was Globo’s correspondent in New York for five years, where he covered the last US election. Since August last year, he hosted GloboNews Mais alongside Julia Duailibi.
On Sundays, Bete Pacheco, who was temporarily on the GloboNews Connection, debuts in the anchoring of the Sunday Special, from 6 pm to 11 pm, alongside Erick Bang. The journalist is part of the select group of professionals who launched GloboNews in 1996. Bete’s career, closely linked to the Culture and Education sections in the city of São Paulo, will contribute even more to the Sunday news. Erick Bang, on the other hand, hosted the channel’s evening newscasts on weekends, and for 11 years he commanded the early morning newscasts. Before, he went through the Globo Radio System.
Still in July, another premiere will move the channel. GloboNews and Valor Econômico have entered into a partnership for professionals from the newspaper to participate live in the television news programs from Monday to Friday. Journalists will make entries to Em Ponto, Conectao GloboNews, GloboNews Mais and J10 directly from Valor’s newsroom. The interaction between the two vehicles will take place in different formats, adapting to the profile of each newspaper.
