What happens on the 24th of June, a partnership with the Remada Ambiental project
In the month in which the preservation of the environment is celebrated with environmental actions around the world, the Sprite brand reinforces its calendar of cleaning beaches, rivers and lagoons that began in November 2022.
The project involves six major Brazilian cities: Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Manaus (AM), Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE), Salvador (BA) and Santos (SP), where each one receives at least four mobilization activations. , awareness raising and waste collection – carried out in partnership with the Coca-Cola Brazil System and the Blue Keepers project, linked to the UN Global Compact’s Water and Ocean Action Platform in Brazil.
In yet another stage, the action arrives in Manaus on the 24th of June, at the mouth of the Tarum-Au igarap. The Remada Ambiental project will be responsible for locally leading the activation from Marina do Davi. On the occasion, gloves and plastic bags will be given to the volunteers, who will be received with a fruit table, hydration and, of course, lots of Sprite to refresh. The meeting point for the participants for the cleaning action will be at the top of Marina do Davi, on Estrada da Ponta Negra, at 8 am.
Potentially recyclable waste will be sent to the Voluntary Delivery Point (PEV) of the Remada Ambiental Project, and, after the activity, it will be sorted and recycled by the recycling cooperative that is the initiative’s partner, Ecocooperativa.
The Environmental Paddling is an action that provides the volunteers with a lifetime experience. After seeing up close the pollution caused by the waste that mostly comes from the city due to the rain, the volunteer takes on a different attitude, that of taking care of his waste and forwarding it more appropriately, becoming a multiplier, says Joice Pinho Maciel , co-founder of Projeto Remada Ambiental.
Ted Ketterer, Marketing Director for Coca-Cola Brazil, adds: For a World Without Waste, we at Coca-Cola are committed to making 100% of our packaging recyclable, made with at least 50% recycled content by 2025, reaching the correct collection and disposal of 100% of the packages placed on the market by the year 2030. The change in Sprite began in 2022 and brings us strength in this trajectory of respect and care for the environment. We are taking a step further and we value this decision to adopt transparent PET and a growing percentage of recycled resin for Sprite packaging as of this year.
