Warner Bros. Discovery is working at an accelerated pace on the preparations for the first two Brazilian soap operas to be shown on the streaming HBO Max. The expectation is that both begin to be recorded in the second half of this year. And targeting the advertising market, the platform seems to already have its favorites to interpret the two protagonists.
The telenovelas ‘Dona Beija’ and ‘Beleza Fatal’ are being produced for HBO Max, the first being a remake of the great success of the 80s, which marked the career of actress Maitê Proença on the extinct TV Manchete, and the second, a current story about the beauty market, lulled by a desire for revenge.
The platform’s desire is to have Grazi Massafera as the protagonist of ‘Dona Beija’, but no contract has been signed so far. As for ‘Beleza Fatal’, written by Raphael Montes, HBO Max’s bet is Camila Queiroz, currently on the air in ‘Amor Perfeito’, shown at 6 pm on Rede Globo. It is worth remembering that Camila was consecrated as Angel, protagonist of the series ‘Verdades Secretas’, initially produced for Open TV with a similar theme to the new plot. The series was so successful that it won a 2nd season on Globoplay at the end of 2021, where it remains available for viewing.
The two actresses have great commercial strength in common. On TV or on the internet, they are always at the forefront of important brands and campaigns, an issue being evaluated by Warner Bros. Discovery in assembling the casts, according to columnist Flavio Ricco, from R7. A commercial plan with the two stars highlighted will be fundamental in promoting soap operas, which aim to reach and retain an audience that has stopped consuming or consumes very little soap operas on open channels.
