Tiring routine, huh? We know. That’s why, every week, Adnews brings the best wine indications for you to relax, offering the Dre. After all, Thursday is almost Friday, and you’ve already learned that the perfect time to enjoy a good wine is yours!
And today, in addition to our traditional list, we also brought a little bit of the history of Brazilian viticulture. We value Italian, French and Chilean wines, but Brazil also produces very high quality drinks, and now you will find out how it all started.
It was in 1532, more than 30 years after Pedro Álvares Cabral’s squadron set foot on Brazilian soil for the first time, that the first grape cultivation took place here. The idea came from Brás Cubas, a nobleman born in the city of Porto, in Portugal, who had just founded Vila de Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.
He had seedlings brought from Portugal grown on the slopes of Serra do Mar, where the city of Cubatão is currently located, but the venture did not work out, and he decided to climb the mountain. That’s when the first vineyards we know of began, cultivated in the region of the Tatuapé neighborhood, in the capital of São Paulo.
From then on, the steps were slow and challenging until the end of the 20th century, when many families of descendants of the first Italian immigrants embraced the opportunity to professionalize the activity, creating new companies or solidifying existing ones, with a high level of technical sophistication. and a lot of business knowledge.
The vineyards planted in Brazilian soil are distributed in six main regions. In Rio Grande do Sul: Serra Gaúcha, Campos de Cima da Serra, Campanha Gaúcha and Serra do Sudeste; in Santa Catarina, in the Planalto Catarinense; and in the Northeast of the country, in the São Francisco Valley. In addition to interesting and increasingly promising projects in the states of Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Goiás.
After this story, a list of the best national wines goes well, right? Hello Dre, we will provide! In the meantime, you have our indications of the week.
Wine of the Week
Since the public liked it, instead of one or two nominations, today we brought four! These are incredible options, carefully chosen by the brand’s experts. And you can have this personalized service for your moment too, you know? More than a brand, an establishment and a service, Dre was born from the concept of living experiences with comfort and exclusivity. Therefore, it has a service of concierge to harmonize the perfect label with your special moment, which can be any: from a romantic dinner to a movie in the company itself, the Dre has the right wine to accompany you.
Perhaps one of these options is perfect for you. We start with the Red Wine Nobile Di Montepulciano, produced with Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes, which harmonizes perfectly with red and game meats, and mature cheeses. Fattoria Svetoni, founded at the beginning of the 19th century in Montepulciano, has been producing wines since 1865. As the property of Grand Duke Leopoldo de Medici, it is considered the “ideal” farm.
Today, the site extends over 36 hectares, of which 23 are vineyards, at an altitude of 300 to 350 meters above sea level. Here, the Prugnolo Gentile grape, a variety of Sangiovese, reveals its maximum potential thanks to good ventilation, temperature between day and night, excellent exposure, rare late frosts and few storms. This is a full-bodied and intense wine.
Also from Fattoria Svetoni, you may like Red Wine Rosso Di Toscana, produced with Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah grapes, which harmonizes perfectly with red and game meats, and seasoned cheeses. This is a more delicate wine, for a sweet and refined palate.
If you are looking for a middle ground between the previous ones in terms of taste, but suitable to accompany elaborate dishes, Primitivo Di Manduria ILMorante Red Wine may be the label that is missing from your personal wine cellar.
Produced with 100% primitive grapes, it harmonizes perfectly with cheeses, carpaccio, cold and grilled meats.
In the heart of Puglia, among the plains that were home to fields of olive trees, is the La Pruina winery, where Primitivo Di Manduria ILMorante was born. A curiosity is that the name of the winery is an acronym of the words ‘Proteggere’ (in Portuguese, to protect); ‘Rispettare’ (in Portuguese, to respect); ‘Unire’ (in Portuguese, unite); ‘Intessere’ (in Portuguese, to intertwine); ‘Nutrire’ (in Portuguese, nourish); and ‘Aspettare’ (in Portuguese, to wait), which correspond to the wine production process!
Primitivo Di Manduria ILMorante emerged from the manual care and traditional winemaking methods of growers, and the exclusive use of native yeasts during alcoholic fermentation generated this great work of art.
Finally, we would like to indicate a wine that is passionate even by the bottle: Voilà Rosé Wine. A subtle presentation for a fruity and refreshing drink! Produced with Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grapes, it harmonizes perfectly with cheeses and sausages, pasta, white and cold meats, salads, grilled fish and seafood, and should always be consumed chilled.
You can find these and other indications on the official website of the brand. Meet and try! And be sure to check out our nominations from last week, which are also excellent.
