At the 2021 Delivery Driver Leadership Forum, iFood made a commitment to annually reassess the category’s earnings policy. Pursuant to the agreement, the app of delivery approved a new readjustment for couriers that will come into force from next Monday (3) and represents, on average, 4.5% increase. This is the third consecutive year that the company readjusts the amounts paid to couriers, taking into account fluctuations in fuel prices and inflation.
The initiative is part of iFood’s commitment to valuing, training and educating couriers, which has been a priority for the company. Since 2019, the platform has invested in benefits ranging from bonuses offered by Delivery de Vantagens, to training courses to help couriers graduate from high school.
“The agenda for valuing couriers is a priority for us. We are constantly dialoguing with them to understand the priority demands and how we can work together to achieve operational improvements and make the category increasingly valued and respected by society”, says Stella Chamarelli, Director of Experience for iFood Delivery Persons.
readjustment
Since 2021, iFood has readjusted the amounts paid to couriers three times. This time, the category will receive, on average, a readjustment of 4.5%. This increase is above the inflation registered in the last 12 months, which was 3.74%, according to the National Consumer Price Index (INPC). In addition, the value of the minimum route will also increase by 8.3% (from R$ 6.00 to R$ 6.50).
Valuation
Since 2019, iFood has been working to offer competitive advantages to couriers who use the platform. Among the highlights are insurance (life insurance, temporary injury and disability), health care and discounts at pharmacies, which are offered free of charge in the Delivery of Advantages program, which also has access to support points and offers of services, such as cellular plans with one of the best prices in the market.
In recent weeks, the company announced the creation of the Legal and Psychological Support Center, a partnership with Black Sisters in Law, which aims to ensure the safety of couriers who are victims of aggression and offenses.
In addition, iFood signed the Ethos Letter of Commitment on Decent Work on Digital Platforms, being the first Brazilian company to sign the document, which aims to improve working conditions on digital platforms and the platforms’ internal practices, policies and procedures, to offer fair working conditions in Brazil.
There is also the Education front, which in 2022 alone will train around 1,000 couriers in high school, and this year, it intends to train more than 5,000 professionals.
