The Brazilian Women’s Soccer Team will face the Chileans this Sunday (02), in a friendly game in preparation for the World Cup, which begins on July 20.
In the pre-game ceremony, instead of the players entering the field accompanied by children, they will enter alongside other women, in an action promoted by Mastercard.
The initiative will also feature a banner with the words: “They played for us, so we can play for those to come. Honoring our legacy is priceless.” The action carried out by Mastercard, in partnership with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), is part of the “#ElasEmCampo” campaign, created by WMcCann.
“This homage from Mastercard to the generations of great players in our football makes me very happy. The CBF always works to preserve the history and perpetuate the legacy of our athletes”, said the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues.
The event brought together 11 former soccer players with the aim of inspiring the next generation of girls, in addition to highlighting the importance of the theme for keeping the future of sport alive through the dreams of girls and young athletes.
“Mastercard has supported important causes such as gender equality for years. As one of the greatest passions of Brazilians, we believe that football can be a mirror that reflects a fairer and more inclusive society. We direct our efforts to increase the visibility of female players, inspiring a new generation of girls who follow the national team”, added Sarah Buchwitz, Vice President of Marketing and Communication at Mastercard Brasil.
