The Premier League is set to end its long 25-year partnership with Nike in supplying balls. And PUMA should take the place of the swoosh. The information is from The Athletic.
The current agreement ends only in 2025, causing the brand change to take place for the 2025/26 season.
Nike’s contract with the English elite began in 2000, with the Nike Geo Merlin becoming the first official match ball in the English top flight in the 2000/01 season.
As part of its agreement, Nike provided kits and equipment for Premier League base development and international events, as well as the Premier League Primary Stars school programme.
PUMA’s growing portfolio includes traditional leagues such as LaLiga in Spain, Serie A in Italy, the United Soccer League in the US, the English Football League, the English second division, the Malaysian Football League, and the Scottish Professional Football League and Scottish Women’s Premier League, men’s and women’s leagues in Scotland. In addition, it recently closed with Liga Portugal.
