We expected that the saga of Afterwhich began in 2019, was to end with After: After the promise. And it was with great shock that, when watching the film at the press session last year, I saw that #squeno (laughs). The end of Tessa and Hardin’s story arrived this Thursday (14) in theaters with After: Forever. For me, who has seen all the films, this provides a certain relief (more laughter). #prazercomculpa
Let’s go to history. Who saw it After the Promise knows that, once again, Tessa and Hardin have broken up. This is because he published a book with their story without asking for their authorization. The long After: Forever shows Hardin once again depressed, once again overindulging in drinking. when he decides to go to Portugal to ask for forgiveness for things he did before Tessa entered the story. There, he meets his ex, Nathalie (Mimi Keene, from the series East Enders e Sex Education). But, of course, Tessa doesn’t leave his head.
What did I find?
Firstly, the film is worth it for the beautiful scenes of Portugal, more specifically the streets of Lisbon. It made me miss it… Secondly, I warn you that Josephine Langford (Tessa) appears very little. Basically in flashbacks, until the final sequence. In other words, anyone who followed the series of films, where she is the main character, is left feeling a little lost. I really missed the character, because she’s much more interesting than Hardin. And let’s agree that she didn’t deserve the wig fake in the last scene (laughs).
However, despite being a weak actor, Hero Fiennes Tiffin is much better in this film than in the others, and in this one, he is also a producer. He even holds the story well, which, as always, is full of catchphrases. Mimi Keene also works, and is very beautiful. The parents are back, but whoever has any importance in the story in the end is only Stephen Moyer (Rob Estes enters mute and leaves silent, laughs).
A saga of After, with his five films, truly a #guiltypleasure. We know that it is a portrait of a toxic relationship, that Tessa should have dumped Hardin a long time ago. But, everyone already had their criminal love when they were a student, right? So, we end up following it, even though we know it’s bad (laughs).
The movies After (2019), After: After the Truth (2020) e After: After the Promise (2022) are available on Prime Videowhile After: After the Disagreement (2021) is na HBO Max.
