Advertising executive Paulo Giovanni passed away this Sunday (1) at the age of 72, a victim of a heart attack. Partner of the Trademark Group, which controls the agencies Pop Trade and Seven Trade, and also of the agency AKM Performmathe executive spent 57 years dedicated to the communications field, 50 of which were in the agency market.
His first name was Giovanni, which began to be used as the surname of the artistic name Paulo when the publicist began his career as a radio broadcaster, in the 1960s, at Radio Imperial in Petrpolis, his hometown. In 1968, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he worked for Tupi and Globo radio stations, was a soap opera star and host of programs on the stations. Globo, Girl Scouts and Headline.
In 1973, he opened the Giovanni agency in Rio de Janeiro, but only began to dedicate himself entirely to it in 1989, when he left radio and TV. The agency won the FCB as a partner in 1998 and left the company in 2007, but his name remained on the brand until 2014.
Paulo Giovanni had a degree in Economics and studied an MBA in Marketing. In 2011, he won the award Sport Director of the Communications Industry. In April of the same year, he took over as CEO of Leo Burnett Tailor Made and became chairman of the agency in 2014. He also served as the main executive of the PublicisGroupe in Brazil until 2016, occupying the role of chairman from a group of agencies including Publicis, Leo Burnett Tailor Made, DPZ&T e Talent Marcel.
Paulo Giovanni’s wake will be held this Tuesday (3) at the Funeral Home, in the Bela Vista neighborhood, in So Paulo (SP), from 8 am to 2 pm. The burial will take place at 3:30 pm at the Morumby Cemetery.
