After the successful launch of features such as Artificial Intelligence-powered virtual DJ and support for podcasts translated by AI, the Spotify appears to be exploring new ways to integrate the tool into your application, with the development of playlists suggested by new technology.
The rumor gained momentum after tech veteran and now investor Chris Messina revealed screenshots of the app’s code that mention playlists by AI e playlists based on your prompts. Messina speculates that the creation of these playlists could be an option within the genre Blendwhere the tastes of different users are combined to create a list of songs that please everyone.
Spotify may have already laid the groundwork for playlists AI created with prompts when developing a feature called niche mixeswhich allows users to build playlists unique based only on a description. Despite the initial appearance, Spotify reported that Niche Mixes are not powered by AI, but driven by the company’s personalization technology and algorithms.
All lines of code were discovered in the latest version of the Spotify app, clearly indicating that this is a feature in development. However, not all features that a company develops internally for testing make it to the public, but this is indicative of how Spotify is thinking about the role that AI can play in music personalization.
The company had previously suggested that features such as AI DJ would not be the limit to the adoption of this technology by the app. According to TechCrunch, there is a team at Spotify working on Large Scale Language Models (LLMs).
In fact, Spotify has hundreds of people working on personalization and machine learning techniques, including a large research team exploring all the possibilities in LLMs, generative voice, and personalization. Does it come to itself? We are watching!
