The shirt features green and pink colors and references Estao Primeira de Mangueira and features the lyrics of the song “Corra e Olhe o Cu”
Fluminense and Umbro announced the launch of the third shirt of the Rio tricolor team, this time in honor of Angenor de Oliveira, known as Cartola.
The shirt features green and pink colors and references Estao Primeira de Mangueira, one of the most traditional samba schools in Rio de Janeiro.
Furthermore, to celebrate Cartola’s passion for Fluminense, the uniform also pays homage to a samba classic featured on the samba player’s first studio album from 1974, the song “Corra e Olhe o Cu”. The lyrics of the song run across the entire shirt, on the front and back, with a font that replicates Cartola’s own lyrics, transforming the uniform into the artist’s manuscript.
“Honoring Cartola, one of the greatest geniuses of Brazilian music, was an old desire of Fluminense. After all, having him as one of the most illustrious fans in our history is a reason for great pride. This is a shirt loaded with strength and meaning. We revere life , work, poetry and the legacy of someone who has his history intertwined with the club he loved so much”, said Mrio Bittencourt, president of Fluminense.
The shirt also has a collection label located on the hem of the shirt, consisting of a stamp featuring the artist’s drawing with the tricolor shirt, surrounded by the name “Mestre Cartola”. The shirt also has the name Cartola stylized with elements from Fluminense.
The new official third shirt will go on sale this Wednesday (11) and the piece can be purchased at official Fluminense stores spread across Rio and outside the state, on Umbro’s website and e-commerce.
” a historic launch for all of us. It celebrates a very solid partnership we have with Fluminense, but it also shows the depth with which, together, we think about the club’s uniforms, looking at the club’s history, its main characters on and off the field, the passion of the fans and everything that makes Tricolor what it is. Cartola is Fluminense. Cartola is Brazil. a collection that will be marked forever”, added Eduardo Dal Pogetto, national brand director at Umbro Brasil.
