Adnews will be present at the SXSW Festival, one of the largest technology and creative economy events in the world, which for the first time will be held outside the United States, in Sydney, Australia. Correspondent Jaqueline Viana, with support from Mobilis Veculos Eltricos, will be in charge of the coverage, which will take place between the 15th and 22nd of October.
Jaqueline has a master’s degree in Software Engineering and Analytics, is an analyst in Business Intelligence and works in both areas in technology projects at one of the largest mining companies in the world, Rio Tinto, located in Perth, Western Australia. In addition to bringing first-hand news from the SXSW Festival to Adnews, Jaqueline will represent the startup Mobilis, contributing to attracting investments for research and development of projects in the area of electromobility.
At a festival of this size, the expectation is to embrace trends, understand what people are thinking and doing new, how they are adding emerging technologies to their products and attend lectures that expand my knowledge and view of the world and business. It is an environment with a lot of opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration, says the correspondent, about her expectations for SXSW.
Mobilis and the mobility revolution
Mobilis Veculos Eltricos began its journey in 2016, but it was its participation in Campus Party, in 2017, which marked its debut on the market. At the event, the company presented the Li electric vehicle to the public, which preceded the DR and TM models, currently sold and produced by Tower Mobilis. Since then, other launches and new business strategies have paved the way for startup Brazilian. Shortly before the pandemic, the fleet monitoring and management system onboard Li became a spin-off.
TrackLi was created to take advantage of a gigantic new business opportunity based on the data that a vehicle can generate. Information technology brings countless opportunities for those willing to add value to the mobility ecosystem, says Mahatma Marostica, founder and CEO of Mobilis.
Logo aps, a expertise in electromobility projects opened doors for Mobilis Consulting, which has nine clients of different sizes in its portfolio, from companies with preliminary ideas to companies with annual revenue of billions of reais.
The aim is always to meet the customer’s needs in a technical way, but also bringing insights of market. We work with different phases of the product, ranging from a PoC or MVP, to products already established in other countries to bring them to the Brazilian market, explains Mobilis partner and commercial director, Erico S. dos Reis.
Hot market
Since the founding of Mobilis, two important points have changed in the electric mobility scenario, as explained by the CEO of Mobilis.
Demands from companies that were previously desirable things, such as ESG, decarbonization and carbon footprint reduction, are now public commitments. Another change was the increased familiarity with technologies, electric vehicles are increasingly present on the streets. Brazilian companies understand that the technology is accessible, and are feeling comfortable investing and launching electromobility products, he highlights.
However, Marostica assesses that even in this promising scenario, companies are finding it difficult to innovate.
They have the resources and desire to innovate, but they do not understand how the innovation process works. To approve an innovation project, for example, they analyze issues such as payback, ROI, market size, among others that do not apply to products that do not exist. For disruptive innovations, there is a whole method for validation, which is to launch as quickly as possible a minimum viable product that can test the market and make corrections along the way, he says.
More fun short trips with #EVs
Mobilis’ aim is to promote the national portfolio of electric vehicles for use over short distances. A trend in Europe and the United States, the idea is to offer the Brazilian market a solution that promotes savings and less environmental impact with compact vehicles that meet everyday transport demands quickly and efficiently.
In line with the electromobility trends in vogue in Europe and the United States, Mobilis is in the development and redesign phase of the Li and DR models, which today fall into the neighborhood vehicle segment. The idea is to update projects to meet the demand for so-called fun car for everyday use over short distances, as well as regulation for registration and circulation on Brazilian urban roads, reveals Erico.
And startup incubated at Inaitec in Palhoa (SC) until the current corporate format with teams located in five states in Brazil, Mobilis’ focus remains the same: promoting sustainable mobility with as few direct emissions as possible, whether in its products or in the products and services to its customers.
