In 2023, a Air France celebrates a remarkable milestone: 90 years of elegance, technology, innovation and comfort aboard its iconic aircraft! Since its founding on October 7, 1933, the company has stood out for representing French excellence and offering an exceptional travel experience.
To celebrate this journey, Air France presents a collection of five iconic dresses created by Xavier Ronze, French designer and head of the Paris Ballet Opera’s costume workshops. Each dress interprets different characteristics of the airline: aircraft and technology; uniforms and fashion; iconic posters promoting your vast network; haute cuisine and tableware; design and architecture. These dresses were made from pieces that marked the company’s history and contemporary pieces, uniting past and present in an elegant way.
Galeries Lafayette, a temple of fashion in the heart of Paris, was the location chosen to present the original collection, which was available until the beginning of October along with a selection of items from Air France’s heritage and the best of the company’s current offering. . But, if you weren’t in Europe between September 28th and October 10th, you can check out the exhibition online! To share this celebration with the world, Air France created a immersive website in French and English, allowing visitors to explore the company’s history and the themes of the displays.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the airline also released a special video that features models wearing pieces from the collection, behind-the-scenes footage of the airline and a mix of archival images and sounds, complemented by an original soundtrack by composer Axel Guenoun. Directed by Killian Lassablire, in collaboration with the agency Aura by Omnicom, the video was also shown in the windows of Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann, in addition to being available online, in airports and on board aircraft.
Since September 28th, Air France’s EnVols media platform has been offering readers content dedicated to the company’s 90th anniversary in a special bilingual edition (English and French), including stories about the dresses designed by Xavier Ronze, the uniforms of company with Olivier Rousteing, artistic director of Balmain, and the secrets of chef Anne-Sophie Pic, with three Michelin stars, who regularly creates the menus for the La Premire and Business cabins. This special supplement can be found in the October/November issue of EnVols magazine, in the Air France VIP lounges in Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly, and in the departure lounges.
