As Paris 2024 Olympics are getting closer and closer, and Breaking, a sport made official by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in December 2020, is attracting a lot of attention! The only new type of games received an investment from Brasilprevcompany of Bank of Brazil which offers private pension plans, through an agreement valid until September 2024 with the possibility of renewal.
When they talked about Breaking I thought it was cool, I received a real lesson in understanding what this culture was like that became a sport. I consider it a huge responsibility for these athletes who represent this new Olympic sport. We feel very happy with this sponsorship and with the creation of the Brasilprev Breaking Team, declares Brasilprev’s Commercial and Marketing Director, Camilo Buzzi.
Breaking has prominent young names, such as B-Girl Angel from Brazil, one of the champions at the Gymnasiade World Championship; B-Boy Eagle, an athlete of different dance styles; and B-Boy Marcin, who is in the Top 10 of the national ranking of the sport. The three prodigies are part of Dream Kids Brazil alongside names like Mary.D, Nathana, Toquinha, Rato and Luan San.
In a spirit of celebration, the youngest member of the team, 13-year-old B-Girl Angel, says she is very happy with the sponsorship.
My generation is experiencing something that other generations fought hard to achieve! Brasilprev’s support is very important for our career and for Breaking. I’m the youngest member of the Brasilprev Breaking Team and I feel privileged to have this opportunity, to have companies that believe in the new generation and this new sport, she says.
Brasilprev also intends to have a hub with periodical content from Breaking to convey the history of the culture hip-hopteach the modality and the evaluation criteria, which are creativity, personality, technique, variety, performance and musicality.
Breaking?
The rhythm is a kind of street dance. Generally, Breaking does not present specific rules about which movements can or cannot be presented. Battles feature a number of rounds j defined, and each round has a 60 second limit. The songs are defined by the DJ.
In Paris, the sport will be competed with 32 athletes, 50% men and 50% women, and with each committee respecting the maximum number of two B-Boys and two B-Girls. In addition to gender diversity, the sport was incorporated with the same objective as skateboarding and surfing at the 2020 Tokyo Games: to attract a young audience.
