ANike renewed the contract with Vini Jr. until 2030, promising to give the athlete a leading role and support the social causes he defends, such as the fight against racism. The player, who has been with the brand since 2013, publicly stated that he was being sidelined (or thrown aside, in football language) in the brand’s recent advertising campaigns.
The attacker ofReal Madrid he did not feel considered by Nike during the campaign for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, being left out of promotional materials. The case ended up in the legal sphere with Vini Jr.’s team seeking a unilateral termination, which almost led to the breach of the million-dollar contract between the brand and the player. But what started as a controversy ended with the renewal of the lasting partnership.
According to The Athletic, in addition to the new contract being financially more advantageous than the previous one, Nike promised that the striker will have a prominent role in new promotional campaigns, on par with the brand’s other big names, such as Kylian Mbapp and Marcus Rashford. The player celebrated the continuity of the sponsorship on his social networks.

The portal also highlighted that one of the factors that contributed to this rapprochement was Nike’s strong support for the player in his fight against racism, something that Vini Jr. is facing in several places in Spain, especially during matches.
Also according to The Athletic, Vini Jr. now has an internal team at Nike dedicated to managing marketing actions and his relationship with the company, which will also support the player’s social initiatives and launch exclusive products bearing his name.
