Second phase of the campaign was signed by Repense
The Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection (Idec), together with ACT Promoo da Sade, the Desiderata Institute and FIAN Brasil, started the second phase of the campaign “Eating well at school: a lesson for life”.
Signed by the Repense agency, the campaign includes a new TV film, in addition to five mini documentaries, which will be broadcast on social media, presenting positive and inspiring stories of schools that have managed to incorporate initiatives and policies to promote healthy eating.
The action aims to raise awareness of a serious problem: the increase in consumption of ultra-processed food products by children and adolescents. As indicated in the study “Premature deaths attributed to the consumption of ultra-processed foods in Brazil,” conducted by researchers from the Center for Epidemiological Research in Nutrition and Health at the University of São Paulo (Nupens/USP), Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), Federal University of São Paulo Paulo (Unifesp) and the University of Santiago de Chile, the number of deaths associated with these products reaches approximately 57 thousand per year.
“Childhood and adolescence are an extremely important period for the development of human beings and for building lifelong habits. Therefore, it is essential to expand the debate on public policies for healthy eating in the school environment and the need to regulation of what is offered and sold to children and adolescents in these spaces, both in the public network and in private institutions”, says Giorgia Russo, technical consultant at Idec.
“More than a campaign, it’s a movement in favor of healthy eating as a way of learning in the school environment. At this stage we are showing different stories and success stories related to the subject in different places in Brazil. The theme is the most important and is very full of learning for all of us”, comments Daniel Chagas, head of creation at Repense.
As in the first phase of the campaign, those interested in the topic can access the “Comer Bem na Escola” website and show their support through a “like map”.
