Survey presented at CES 2024 suggests that advances in technology will cause tools to become ubiquitous
Accenture released its new research that shows that the world is about to undergo a technological change due to the advancement of artificial intelligence and other technologies, which have become increasingly intuitive for people, called “Human by Principle”.
The survey titled “Human by Design: How AI Opens the Doors to the Next Level of Human Potential” also suggests that as human-centered technologies exert even greater capabilities and become more integrated, the population is moving toward heading towards an environment where technology surrounds them, becoming more ubiquitous.
“As AI, spatial computing, and body sensing technologies evolve to a point where they appear to mimic human capabilities and become invisible, what remains are people. This will accelerate a wave of unprecedented change across all sectors.” sectors, from retail and entertainment to medicine and manufacturing,” explained Paul Daugherty, chief technology and innovation officer at Accenture.
According to research, generative AI has the potential to impact 44% of all working hours in industries, as well as enabling productivity improvements across 900 different types of jobs and creating between $6 and $8 billion in global economic value. .
Furthermore, the study also found that 95% of executives agree that making technology more human will massively expand opportunities in all sectors and 93% agree that, with rapid technological advances, organizations must innovate with purpose.
Trends
The study also identified four main trends in the shift to “human in principle” technologies. The first of them was called “A combination made by AI”, which should transform people’s relationship with knowledge.
According to Accenture, with technological advances, people will no longer search for answers on search engines to receive them in a selected and personalized way in the form of advice, a summary, an essay, an image or even a work of art.
For the study, the act of research will become a synthesis and business leaders who reimagine how information works in the organization and equip employees with tools will experience performance gains and competitive advantages.
According to the survey, 95% of executives believe that generative AI will force their organization to modernize its technology architecture.
The second trend highlighted is “Ecosystems for AI”, which according to the research boils down to imagining a world where AI-capable agents work on behalf of individuals and are part of an interconnected ecosystem.
As a result, these automated agents will assist, advise and take decisive action on behalf of people and 96% of executives agree that leveraging AI agent ecosystems will be a significant opportunity for their organizations in the next three years.
The third trend is to “Create value in new realities”. Here, the study talks about the fusion between places and experiences in the physical and digital world. According to the survey, 33% of retail consumers have already indicated that they are or would be interested in using spatial computing technologies or devices to make purchases.
Then, Accenture pointed out that “A new human interface” will also be a trend and that this will occur through technologies such as AI accessories, neurotechnology with brain detection and eye and movement tracking.
According to the study, 94% of executives agree that human interface technologies will allow a better understanding of behaviors and intentions, transforming human-machine interaction.
“Human-centric technologies like generative AI are poised to unleash human potential and deliver an impressive range of business and societal benefits, but only if we take a balanced, human-by-design approach that ensures these technologies are used fairly and responsibly”, added Daugherty.
