There are basically three types of individuals in the world: the ignorant, the desperate and the prepared. The first ones have no idea what is happening; the second realize what is happening, but do not know how to face it; while the latter take advantage of opportunities.
These groups change places depending on the context in which they find themselves, so that a person who is ignorant or desperate in one situation may be prepared for another. In this sense, the great current challenge is being able to remain prepared for what matters for the future, as the current speed of technological evolution is so high that it is difficult to see what we should do to prepare.
To face and win the current technological revolution and all others that are yet to come, it is necessary to adopt a future ready stance, investing in strategies that will put us at the forefront of the path to the future. To do so, we need new methods and skills in our toolbox to seize opportunities on the journey.
We were educated to be good at reacting, but in the context that presents itself, we need to learn to anticipate and hack our evolution. Only those who are prepared will be able to lead their futures, whether in business or in any area of life.
However, this is not easy, as transformations require effort, requiring knowledge, strategy and discipline to be successful. With this purpose in mind, I wrote the book Leading the Future, breaking down this process into three complementary dimensions: 1) expanding the vision to see what needs to be done; 2) acquisition of knowledge and methodologies that allow developing strategies to chart the best paths for the future and; 3) development of the skills and abilities necessary for this.
Here, therefore, is my invitation to read for entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and anyone who wishes to remain relevant on this journey into the future, especially deepening the development of “Critical Thinking, which is the most important skill for the future and the main focus of the third part of the book. The future does not forgive a lack of preparation.
