ESPM and the Brazilian Academy of Events and Tourism, with the support of AMPRO (Association of Promotional Marketing) and ABRAMARK (Brazilian Academy of Marketing), promoted the Memorial João De Simoni, who died at the end of November 2023, aged 86 . The tribute took place on the 24th, at the ESPM headquarters, in So Paulo. Present were his wife Lcia Helena, children Mirella, Andra and Giancarlo, Dalton Pastore, president of ESPM, Wilson Ferreira Jr, AMPRO Permanent Advisor, Francisco Madia, president of ABRAMARK and Srgio Junqueira Arantes, president of the Brazilian Academy of Events and Tourism , in addition to other market professionals, academics, ESPM advisors and family members of the honoree. João De Simoni, considered the Father of promotional marketing in Brazil, was a marketing, sales and multidisciplinary communications executive at Willys-Overland, Ford, Chrysler, and worked at the J. Walter Thompson agency, where he left to found the De Simoni Group. He was also one of the founding members of the Promotional Marketing Association (AMPRO), the Brazilian Academy of Events and Tourism, the Brazilian Academy of Marketing (ABRAMARK) and vice-president of the ESPM Deliberative Council. De Simoni also played as a professional football player between 1957 and 1959, for Palmeiras, a club of which he became planning director, from 1971 to 1975. Llo Ferracci, a nickname he brought from his childhood, from which he gave the name to the famous chocolate from Nestl (Lollo), he chose to spend the last years of his life in Capivari, his hometown, dedicating himself to the production of Villaggio De Simoni cachaa, his other passion.
