Women at the top of the awards
The 2024 Grammys were established as one of the most important for women, who dominated the night’s main awards. Starting with Taylor Swiftthe most listened to artist in 2023 on Spotify overall, she stole the award, winning best album of the year with Midnights. The award places her in a prominent position, being the first artist in history to win four times in this category. The singer had already won the award in 2010, 2016 and 2021 for the albums Fearless, 1989 and Folklore, respectively.

During the speech, Taylor shared a secret: her next album. According to the blonde (as Brazilian fans call her), The Tortured Poets Department is scheduled to be released on April 19th.
In addition to the award for best album of the year, Taylor also won in the Best Pop Vocal Album category.
But TayTay (another affectionate nickname for the singer from fans) wasn’t the only one to attract attention at the 66th edition of the awards. Billie Eilish, owner of the hit song Happier Than Ever, won in two categories with the song What Was I Made For?, from the soundtrack to the film Barbie, namely Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Finally, Miley Cyrus showed that she can do anything on her own, taking home the Grammy for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for the song Flowers.
The controversy of the night
Unfortunately, it wasn’t just moments of celebration that marked the award. During the event, rapper Killer Mike was handcuffed and taken into custody by the Los Angeles police after some physical altercations with an event security guard, according to the website TMZ.
Killer Mike was the winner in all the categories in which he was nominated, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance with the song Scientists & Engineers and Best Rap Album, with Michael.
According to Variety, the rapper could be released today.
Grammy Criticism
The award was also criticized by rappers. While on stage, musician and producer Jay-Z criticized the lack of fairness in the awards, praising Beyonc, with whom he has been married since 2008, and commenting that she never won the Album of the Year award, despite being nominated three times.
In the same vein, rapper Drake, who has not attended the event since 2019 and was also not present in this edition, commented on the Recording Academy, organizer of the Grammy Awards, sharing his opinion about its influence in the world of hip hop.
