The Veterans World Cup is scheduled to be held in June, in England. According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the competition will feature eight countries and players over 35 years old.
With great football legends, the event has yet to be made official. The competition is organized by the Elite Players Group, a company created by former players and businesspeople in 2023. Consequently, the name of the tournament will be EPG Cup.
The Brazilian team will feature names like Ronaldinho Gacho, Kak and Rivaldo. In addition to the Brazilian stars, the outlet states that other big names in world football will compete in the championship, Michael Owen, Fabio Cannavaro, Diego Forln, Francesco Totti and Thierry Henry, among others.
The captains of each country are founders of the EPG: Steve McManaman (England), Esteban Cambiasso (Argentina), Emerson (Brazil), Christian Karembeu (France), Kevin Kuranyi (Germany), Marco Materazzi (Italy), Michel Salgado (Spain) and Diego Lugano (Uruguay).
The games will be played on an official football field, with 11 athletes on each side, but with 70 minutes, instead of 90, and unlimited and rotating substitutions. Each team will have a squad of 18 players, including a coach.
