Burger King has become a topic in the advertising market in recent days thanks to the latest campaign launched by the chain, which brought Kid Bengala to star in the continuation of the “Exagero” communication, which advertises the offer of two Whoppers for R$25.
The campaign created by Jotacom went live this Wednesday (14) and was published only on social media. Throughout the video, the former porn actor made several puns about the size of the snack, even going so far as to say that the burger was “so big it couldn’t fit in his mouth.”
A few minutes after its release, the piece was criticized on social media, with users saying that the video was appealing. This Thursday (15), the network removed both the film and the promotional photo from its social networks and, according to the press release, the network took the decision to prevent the “expansion of discussions and polarization on the networks”.
Burger King also states that the campaign was designed with the sole objective of “entertaining the public, mostly young people aged 18 and over”, who consume the brand. Read the company’s statement in full:
“BK has always been recognized for being a brand with modern, humorous and provocative communication, which attracts attention and creates conversations on social media. Therefore, we have always managed to amplify our voice and our products through iconic campaigns, like the one we carried out to communicate the return of King in Dobro, for example. To communicate the promotion of 2 Whoppers for R$ 25, we created the Exagero campaign, which in a fun way, brings puns that have the sole objective of entertaining our audience, mostly young people over the age of 18. In order not to increase discussions and polarization on the networks, we chose to remove the material from the air.”
