We have so much to watch on streaming that we usually get a little lost, right? So, here I have selected 6 unmissable items that will be released in March, also known as the most beautiful month of the year (lol). See below:
Napoleo – day 1 on Apple TV Plus
The film is intended to be a personal look at the origins of Napoleon Bonaparte (Joaquin Phoenix) and his rapid and relentless rise to emperor. It also aims to show his visceral and often volatile relationship with his wife and true love, Josephine (Vanessa Kirby, replacing Jodie Comer). Coming from nowhere, as an artillery officer in the French army, the film portrays his journey, until he is defeated and exiled to the island of Saint Helena. Conquering the world to try to win her love, his tactics earned him a strong reputation. It even took seven coalitions of different powers to defeat him. Ideally, it would be a film to see in the cinema for its grand battle scenes, but it’s worth seeing, even if it has “a lot of format and little content”.
Maiden – Dia 08 on Netflix
Starring Millie Bobby-Brown, the film follows her character, who is called Elodie. She is a princess who agrees to marry a handsome prince from another kingdom. But what she doesn’t know is that this fairy tale is actually a big mistake. The royalty intends to sacrifice her. Deceived by the king, the princess becomes the sacrifice of an old debt. Now, trapped in a dragon’s cave and knowing that no one will come to rescue her, she will need to use her cunning, intelligence and perseverance to escape with her life. And all this, without the help of any enchanted prince. It reminded me a lot To Princess, with Joey King, which I really like. But there’s Millie, Robin Wright, Angela Bassett and Nick Robinson, so of course I’ll watch.
Wonka – Day 08 no Max
I had everything not to like Wonka, lol, but I loved it. It even made it onto my list of the best of the year 2023. The story begins with a delicious musical number (yes, the film is also a musical) showing the arrival of Willy Wonka in the city willing to set up his chocolate shop there. But before becoming the brilliant mind behind the largest chocolate factory in the world, Willy had to face several obstacles. Full of ideas and determined to change the world, young Wonka embarks on an adventure to spread joy through his delicious chocolate. To do this, he will count on the help of a little orphan girl, and other unlikely friends, including an Oompa Loompa (played in a very fun way by Hugh Grant). But there are several villains in their way. Wonka a delight. And full of homages to the classic filmTo Fantastic Chocolate Factory.
Oscar – Day 10 no Max
In addition to being shown on TNT, the party for cinema’s biggest award will also be shown live on Max (formerly HBO Max). I always disagree with the results, but I love this party full of glamour. And don’t forget to follow my real-time coverage on Hollywood Blog’s social media, okay?
Hire Killer – Day 21 on Prime Video
You must remember to Hire Killer, 1989, with Patrick Swayze. Now comes the remake with Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role. In this new film, he plays a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a security guard at an inn in the Florida Keys. But he soon discovers that not everything is as it seems in this tropical paradise.
Shirley for President – Day 22 on Netflix
The film presents itself as an intimate portrait of Shirley Chisholm, the first black congresswoman and the first black woman to run for president of the United States. And how great a cost this came to Shirley herself. The idea is to tell the story of Chisholm’s historic and revolutionary presidential campaign, based on exclusive and extensive conversations with family, friends and those who knew her best. In the main role is Regina King, in her return to cinema after the death of her son. I think she is a great actress and a great woman that I had the pleasure of meeting personally. I root for her always.
