Initiative for the NGO Wonder Women Tech was developed by AlmapBBDO
After research that points to the seriousness of hostility towards women within the gamer universe, the NGO Wonder Women Tech (WWT) presents the first e-police exclusively for women, for real complaints on a gamer platform.
From now on, players will find a new beta tool within GTA RP that will facilitate access to information and direct players to official incident recording platforms to report situations of harassment, threats, embarrassment and various forms of violence.
In 2023, Sky Broadband, one of the largest internet provider companies in the United Kingdom, carried out a survey and detected that 49% of female gamers have already suffered some type of harassment while playing or broadcasting lives from this universe on the internet, and that 27% fear that these attacks threaten life itself.
For a few years now, GTA RP has had conventional police stations, used exclusively as part of the plot. Through a modification in the game’s open source, added to a partnership with a server, the map gains the ‘E-Police Station’, a police station identical to the one in the real world, especially for women.
It is recommended that a player, when suffering or witnessing situations of various violence, save the evidence within the gamer platform itself. Next, the digital avatar must go to this support point, where a totem will be opened and instructs the registration of an electronic police report on the official police website, without the need to leave the game.
Once completed, the information will follow the normal procedures for investigating occurrences by official authorities.
The e-Police Station is a simple modification within the game, which can change this dynamic as it facilitates and encourages the achievement of BOs without leaving the game. And, because it is open source, it can be used by anyone interested.
The proposal to place an e-delegation within the electronic game was born precisely from the urgency to blame aggressors, who tend to find themselves in lawless areas within the online universe. In fact, a very common practice was for players to be banned, create a username and continue harassing them with impunity.
