Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad promised a study to verify which segments within the events sector need help
The Federal Government will send a new bill, as a matter of urgency, in order to create a new version of Perse (Emergency Program for the Resumption of the Events Sector). The information was from Fernando Haddad, Minister of Finance.
Ampro (Promotional Marketing Association) was in Braslia to continue the mobilization that brings together representatives from the hotel, tourism and entertainment sectors, benefiting from Perse.
Haddad informed that the bill will have a more focused version of the program, instead of proposing a gradual extinction, as occurred in the provisional measure. As the new bill will have constitutional urgency, it will need to be evaluated by Congress within 45 days, being voted on in the second half of April.
The minister did not estimate the impact on public coffers of the measures under discussion with parliamentarians. According to Haddad, both in the case of Perse and the payroll tax refund, the government needs to remodel the projects to know the size and scope of the measures.
“In 2022, we had more than R$10 billion in tax relief for Perse and another R$13 billion in 2023, having already removed any inconsistencies in the taxpayers’ own reports. I ordered a very rigorous fine-tooth comb to be carried out to give us an idea of how much It’s costing Perse per year, he explained.
With the request of some parliamentarians for the continuity of Perse, Haddad promised to carry out a study to verify which segments within the events sector have not yet recovered and need help.
