Celso Portiolli completes, exactly this Sunday (March 3rd), 30 years of SBT. During the presentation of the Domingo Legalhe was surprised by the presence of Daniela Beyruti, who came to the stage especially to give him a plaque commemorating the occasion with the following message.
March 3, 1994. It was a Thursday. That day began the journey of one of the most dedicated and captivating employees at SBT. After watching a VHS tape with suggestions, Silvio Santos bet on his talent. First behind the cameras and then as a presenter. And you took off. More than audience numbers, the Brazilian people love you, Celso. Just like us, your co-workers. We are full of pride for this significant date. You have SBT’s DNA. Thank you for so much! I was telling Gargalaca (director of Domingo Legal) in the dressing room that the first tape you sent to him, we watched at home. You were on a radio, sitting in a chair, giving a lot of ideas to SBT. He said it like this: This boy has good ideas, this boy has talent. Celso, he is very proud of you. He has made many bets, many have been successful and he is proud of them. You were a bet and you certainly make him and SBT very proud. It’s a great pleasure to have you with us, we feel very close to you. You represent SBT in an incredible way.
Visibly moved, Celso Portiolli thanked him for the tribute and recalled his entire career.
crazy. When I joined SBT, 30 years ago, Silvio Santos was a little older than I am today. a long time. With all his vigor, energy and talent, he gives opportunities to new talents and presenters. It was even an argument I used with him in the dressing room, when I went to ask for a chance… When I think that when I came here, Silvio Santos was exploding and at his peak, I’ve been with him and SBT for 30 years. a long time. It seems like I started yesterday.
Portiolli continued by thanking the Abravanel family for their support and affection, highlighting that SBT is a second home for him, where he feels happy and well treated by everyone. The presenter took advantage of the hook to give special thanks to Silvio Santos.
I want to thank Silvio for, from the moment I asked for the chance, he had the attitude to challenge me. In the first conversation he said: Do you want to be a presenter? Here you will not be a presenter. Nobody knows you, there is no space on the grid and no program for you. And I always said: I’m going to be a presenter. It was a fight, so much so that my first contract had everything and didn’t say presenter. He was the one who made it and asked to put it on when I got the first opportunity to record a pilot. I thought I had lost the chance of my life and he said: It was good. Record one more, with the same clothes, which I’ll put on air… I remember when I got home, there was just a sofa that I bought and a TV that I won in an SBT raffle. Sitting with Suzana (his wife), suddenly, the program came on air and from then on my life started to change. There were good times, difficult times, times of uncertainty, but it went on and I was able to handle the challenge. He provokes, knows how to put you in your place, doesn’t let success go to his head. the most humble guy in this house. He taught me a lot. I always say: I learned to be a man from my father and I learned to be a better man and a great professional from Silvio Santos. He taught me everything, shared.
Portiolli debuted in 1994 as a producer and actor in Cmeras Escondidas which, at that time, was shown on Topa Tudo por Dinheiro. In 1996 he started presenting Passa ou Repassa. The following year, he began his journey on Sundays at Tempo de Alegria and Xaveco. From the 2000s onwards, it presented programs in different genres, such as realities, games, and interactive programs including The Conquistador of the End of the World, Code FAMA, Dating on TV and Etc, Enjoying a Trip, Enjoying with Reais, Enjoying with Children, Fantasy , Sesso Premiada and Ver Para Crer, in addition to replacing Adriane Galisteu on the program Charme. More recently, in addition to Domingo Legal, he also ran Sabado with Celso Portiolli and Show do Milho.
Celso keeps the program Enjoying a Trip in his memory fondly, after all, it was he who created it, together with Silvio Santos, edited and produced it.
He made a challenge. He turned to me and said: I want to see if you are good. This program you will create and direct. If it works, it’s your merit, because you’re a great presenter and director. I gave my life for this program and it took first place in ratings, it exploded. He even gave 30 points on Sundays. It was incredible, said Portiolli.
On the stage of Domingo Legal, a program that Celso has been in charge of since 2009, Daniela Beyruti suggested returning with Curtido uma Viagem and Celso was willing to take on the challenge.
I would love. Enjoying a Vigaem was a phenomenon. Seriously, if you’re up for it, I’m up for it. It could be cool to do some special editions, said the presenter.
