Last Sunday, February 13th, one of the most important events of the year took place, the Super Bowl. The classic NFL final is not only remarkable for those who enjoy sports, but also in the world of advertising, as the largest companies in the world prepare special commercials for the day. With Amazon it was no different and they presented a special commercial for Alexa.
Alexa is the virtual assistant developed by the brand. The device has several different functions that range from putting the device to play music, asking to tell jokes, answering random questions and depending on the version, to turning the lights on or off at home.
The commercial featured in Sunday’s game was a play on the diversity of functions and efficiency of the virtual assistant. The ad stars Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, the actress’ husband, playing themselves. During the video, the couple find themselves in unusual situations caused by artificial intelligence.

Amazon’s campaign has a humorous tone, something that marked most of this year’s Super Bowl commercials. With the skills of the virtual assistant being so advanced as to be exaggerated, the brand manages to show how efficient the device can be and still get some laughs from the viewer.
Alexa can be purchased on Amazon’s official website, with varying prices. The models also have their own differences, the main ones in the roles they can perform. Some available virtual assistants come with screens that can be used for video functions.
