International Women’s Day is more than just a commemorative date, it reaffirms the impact of women in all sectors of society and female representation in the world. In entertainment celebration spaces such as major annual awards, it is clear that women are increasingly gaining prominent positions.
Over the past year, female figures have proven that they are not just characters on screen: they are shaping narratives and redefining standards, both in glamorous awards shows and in all spheres of cultural life.
As more women take on key roles in directing, writing films and producing music, the entertainment narrative becomes richer and more plural. The growing recognition of these professionals in the main awards is a testimony to the paradigm shifts in the entertainment industry.

Female participation in the main entertainment awards
Grammy 2024
No Grammy 2024, women were the big winners in the four main categories of the night: Album of the Year (Taylor Swift), Song of the Year (Billie Eilish), Record of the Year (Miley Cyrus) and New Artist (Victoria Mont).
Among the most nominated artists, eight of the nine were women, with emphasis on SZA, leader in nominations at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards with nine nominations in total. Other great artists such as Kylie Minogue, Karol G, Tyla and Phoebe Bridgers also won the gramophone trophy.
Golden Globes 2024
The 81st edition of Golden Globe 2024 was the stage for remarkable performances and inspiring victories for women.
Women’s strength and contributions to the entertainment industry were recognized in several categories, with winners including Lily Gladstone (Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama), Emma Stone (Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical), Justine Triet (Best Screenplay) , Billie Eilish (Best Original Song in a Film), among others.
Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix 2023
On the national scene, the Brazilian Cinema Grand Prize 2023 highlighted the talent of women in film production. Of 29 categories, 23 had at least one woman nominated.
Three films directed by women, “A Viagem de Pedro”, “Pluft, o Fantasminha” and “Carvo”, were among the 10 most nominated, highlighting the diversity of talents and perspectives in Brazilian cinema.
Other stars also received the honor, such as Dira Paes (Best Actress) and Adriana Esteves (Best Supporting Actress).
Oscar 2024
O Oscarthe biggest award in world cinema, will be broadcast live on March 10, 2024, in Los Angeles, and has already broken a record for inclusion and representation.
Of the 22 categories, 18 had at least one woman nominated. In a third of the nominations, women shone and three of the Best Film nominees were directed by women.
The main names nominated are Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone (Best Actress), Justine Triet (Best Director), Emily Blunt and America Ferrera (Best Supporting Actress), among other stars.
