In an interview recorded this Monday morning (11), President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva spoke with journalist Cesar Filho for the debut of the new SBT Brazil, which aired at 7:45 pm. Lula defends the decision of the Petrobras of not distributing the full amount of dividends which, according to analysts, caused the company to lose more than R$50 billion of its market value.
Lula reinforces that the company must allocate part of its revenue to investments and criticizes the market, saying that Petrobras does not only have to think about shareholders, but above all about Brazilians. He also states that there was a “serious conversation” between the government and Petrobras management about the state-owned company’s direction.
“I am committed to the Brazilian people to reduce the price of fuel, gasoline, cooking gas and diesel oil. We have no reason to have prices equivalent to international prices. Because we are self-sufficient in oil prospecting”, pointed out the president.
Furthermore, he comments on the latest surveys that showed a drop in his rating.
I am absolutely sure that there is no reason for the Brazilian people to give me 100% popularity because we are still far short of what we promised, said Lula.
The PT member celebrates the price of meat, but admitted that the price of rice, beans and energy is high, and that he asked the Ministers of Finance and Mines and Energy to take action. When asked about interest, Lula raises his tone again against the president of the Central Bank Roberto Campos Neto. When this citizen, when he leaves the Central Bank, he will have to measure what he did for this country. In fact, what he is doing right now is contributing to the delay in the economic growth of this country.
Lula also comments on the upcoming trial at the Superior Court of Justice that decides whether former player Robinho should serve time in Brazil.
A man, a young man who has money, a rich, famous young man, commits gang rape and thinks he didn’t commit a crime, thinks he was drunk, creates shame, you know? Robinho was already convicted in Italy and he was supposed to be serving his sentence, concludes Luiz Incio.
In the interview, Lula also talks about the search for fugitives from the maximum security federal prison in Mossor. These and other excerpts will be on the premiere of the new SBT Brasil with Cesar Filho at 7:45 pm. Cesar Filho will be connected with the public and in tune with the world in the new ‘SBT Brasil’.
