With an annual investment of R$5 billion in content, the broadcaster will have 29 premieres on TV Globo, 50 on Globoplay and 60 on pay channels
Globo announced the latest in its programming for the second quarter of 2024. Among live musical and sporting events, in addition to original titles and new seasons of some of its franchises, the company will have 29 premieres on TV Globo, 50 on Globoplay and 60 on paid channels.
The new features are part of an annual investment of R$5 billion in content, rights and technology.
“Globo is essentially a producer of Brazilian content. And, at the same time, we are programmers and distributors of this content. The combination of our portfolio, which is today digital and can be consumed live or on demand, with a powerful ecosystem of windows makes our stories reach further and further, reach more and more people. In an environment of competition for attention, this is what brings relevance to what we do”, said Leonora Bardini, Director of Marketing and Programming at TV Globo.
Raphael Corra Netto, director of Paid Entertainment and Journalism Channels at Globo, reiterates that the distribution strategy is designed to follow two paths, namely preserving the native characteristics of each platform and allowing people to choose how and when to consume the content.
“Windows deliver content to those who have different consumption habits. And we all have mixed habits. One moment, we look for linear, curated content. The next, we want to choose what to watch, in our own time. It’s very interesting to see how platforms offer complementary audiences”, explained the director.
Live music and football
Live content will gain more strength in the coming months with the arrival of festivals such as Lollapalloza and Circuito Sertanejo, which will be broadcast on Multishow and Globoplay, in addition to having the best moments broadcast on TV Globo.
Another focus for the broadcaster will be football with broadcasts of the Copa América and the European Championship. While TV Globo follows the Brazilian team and shows the main games, sportv will be responsible for offering the complete experience for sports lovers.
National club championships, such as the Copa do Brasil and Brasileiro, will be other examples of multiplatform distribution, with broadcasts on TV Globo, sportv and Premiere, while TV Globo shows the Libertadores.
“The start of the Brazilian Championship also marks a new dynamic of ‘Sunday with Huck’, which now comes in a double dose, before and after the matches, with more content on Sunday afternoons”, highlighted Leonora.
New seasons
The programming will also feature new seasons of some of the network’s franchises, such as the reality show “Tnel do Amor”, “DPA”, “Vai que Cola”, “Avisa L Que eu Vou” and “Que História Essa, Porchat” on paid channels. . The new season of “Conversa com Bial” will gain an extra window in GNT’s prime time slot.
On TV Globo, the rounds of ‘Linha Direta’ and the expansion of ‘Projeto Falas’ are scheduled, which advances in identity talks this year and gains a new discussion, about people with disabilities.
The broadcaster also announced the launch of the fifth and final season of the series “Sob Presso”, which began as a film in cinemas, became a series on TV Globo and started to have Globoplay as its first window. The last episodes will be shown on open TV.
Original titles
Among the premieres scheduled for the quarter, Globo will focus on Brazilian stories, with the multiple accents that make up the country, for Globoplay and other channels.
“Our investment in originals brings not only regional themes, but also productions carried out in different parts of Brazil. A movement that stimulates the local economy, carried out both in partnership with Estdios Globo and with independent producers in the market”, reinforced Teresa Penna, director from Globoplay.
On Globoplay’s list of premieres is “Justia 2”, which will tell a story that takes place in the Federal District and features names such as Paola Oliveira, Murilo Bencio, Nanda Costa and Juan Paiva.
In June, Globoplay’s other big bet will be the series “The Game that Changed History”, which chronicles the emergence of organized crime in Rio de Janeiro and its rival faces.
In the documentary category, streaming will also premiere “Senna by Ayrton” in May and “Paris-Rio: the tragedy of flight 447” in June.
The documentary series ‘Tributo’, which tells the story of big names who helped build Brazilian television, will also be screened on TV Globo from April onwards, with episodes about Lima Duarte, Laura Cardoso, Manoel Carlos and Zez Motta.
Among the new content on the pay channels are the programs “Quem No Pode se Sacode”, with Fernanda Paes Leme and Giovanna Ewbank, and “Geladeiras em Ao”, a new gastronomic reality show with Claude Troisgois, Batista and Douglas Silva, both on GNT.
In relation to soap operas, the network’s flagship, Globo is preparing to premiere, in April, the new soap opera of the six ‘No Rancho Fundo’, a romantic comedy that delves into the Brazilian countryside, and has also confirmed the rerun of ‘Alma Gmea ‘ as the new title of ‘Vale a Pena Ver de Novo’.
