The economic upturn during the Easter period began to boost other sectors in addition to chocolate and its derivatives. A survey by Admitad, a global affiliate marketing network, identified growth of 213% in toy sales, 116% in hotel reservations and 80% in airline ticket sales.
According to the company, Brazilians spend, on average, R$157 on gifts during this time of year, representing an increase of 48% compared to non-holiday periods.
“In addition to gifts, Easter also boosts the travel sector, with an 80% increase in airline ticket sales and a 116% increase in hotel bookings. This indicates that Brazilians take advantage of the opportunity to make small escapes from their routine during the holiday”, explains Bruno Trindade, head of Sales at Admitad in Brazil.
Spending during the holiday also extends to pets, according to data from petikoinnovation company pet.
“There is a significant increase driven by products related to the Easter theme. The most popular themed product is the Easter Egg for dogs. Toys related to the theme, such as rabbit plush toys and carrot-shaped teethers, also contribute to this growth in sales during the period”, says Rodrigo Furtado, co-founder and CMO at Petiko.
Easter is also an important sales date for food suppliers in general, especially for those who use delivery apps. Admitad data shows that food delivery orders increase by around 86% during the holiday, and people are willing to spend 70% more to receive ready-made meals.
