With “Up: Altas Aventuras”, Ferrari and immersions with artists, the new feature was presented during the Summer Release, in Los Angeles (USA)
After Turma da Mônica, Shrek, Barbie, Godfather and several others, it was Airbnb’s turn to announce “Iconics”, a new category of experiences offered by names in cinema, music, television, art, sports and more.
The news was presented during the “Summer Release”, held this Wednesday (1) in Los Angeles (USA), and presented by Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb.
During the event, the executive was responsible for presenting each of the first 11 experiences that are now available on the platform and, now, guests will be able to stay in the “Up: Altas Aventuras” house, at the Ferrari Museum, in the X- Men, at the Musée d’Orsay, at Prince’s “Purple Rain” house, on Feid’s tour bus, at Riley’s control center from “Inside Out 2”, at Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor’s house, as well as living experiences alongside Kevin Hart, Doja Kat, Khaby Lame.
“‘Iconics’ takes you to worlds that only existed in your imagination — until now. As life becomes progressively digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic to the real world. With Iconics, we create the most extraordinary experiences on Earth “, stated the CEO.
Teo Connor, VP of Design at Airbnb, also explained that the startup’s main objective with the launch is to bring people closer to scenarios that previously only existed in their imaginations, in addition to promoting a truly immersive experience for fans.
“What excites me most about the design at Icônicos is the power it has to connect people from all over the world. All the items present in these experiences were thought and designed to capture everyone’s imagination and now we have experiences for all tastes. The idea is to bring people closer to their favorite artists, films and cartoons, so much so that the descriptions have the language of ‘guests’, like Carl from Up and Jubilee from X-Men”, he explained.
The executive also told both the studios, such as Pixar and Marvel, and the artists participated in the entire conception of the experiences. “We have a great relationship with all the people who are participating in this moment. They saw and followed all the work we did and we could not have created and built the ‘Iconics’ without them,” she added.
Iconic
In “Up, Altas Aventuras”, people will have the opportunity to stay at Carl Fredricksen and Ellie’s house. Among all the items that refer to the film’s setting, such as the chairs in the living room and the paintings, the house located in Abiquiu, New Mexico (USA), floats — literally.
Following in the line of cartoons, Airbnb took advantage of the fact that the film “Inside Out 2” is close to being released and announced Riley’s emotion control center as one of the new accommodations.
Motorsport fans will be able to spend the night at the Ferrari Museum, in Maranelli, Italy. There, guests will sleep on a bed made from the same leather used in car seats, as well as take a ride with Scuderia Ferrari driver ambassador Marc Gené and win a VIP ticket to the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
Still on Museums, art lovers will be able to sleep in the clock room of the Musée d’Orsay, which was transformed into a bedroom by Mathieu Lehanneur, designer of the torch and cauldron for the Paris 2024 Games. From the terrace, guests will be able to watch the Ceremony Opening of the Olympic Games on the banks of the River Seine.
Lovers of geek culture were also honored by Airbnb with the launch of the X-Mansion, where guests can experience spending time at the “Xavier Institute for Advanced Studies”. The mansion is located in Westchester, New York (USA), it was entirely hand painted to represent the same house from the cartoons in the saga, including the new series “X-Men 97’”, recently released.
Straight from 1984, guests can now stay in the house featured in the film “Purple Rain”, starring Prince, who also bought the place at the time. Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA), this experience will open the doors of the residency for the first time and give fans the opportunity to visit the place and listen to rare tracks by the artist.
Alongside artists, Airbnb will also promote experiences with comedian Kevin Hart in a stand-up show, both by him and by the main artists of the moment, for 30 people in a secret bar, in addition to a tequila tasting. In the same style, the platform will also give people the opportunity to participate in an intimate session.
In a bid to get closer to the younger audience, the company will have an Iconic promoted by tiktoker Khaby Lame, who will invite guests to visit his hometown, Milan, Italy, for a gaming experience. In this case, people will be staying in a gaming loft designed by the artist and will be able to face him in Fortnite Battle Royale.
Targeting the Latin and Indian audience, the new category also features experiences alongside Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor and singer Feid. With Jahnvi, the public will be able to spend a few days at the actress’s home in Chennai, India. With Feid, fans will be able to spend a week with him on the “FERXXOCALIPSIS” tour bus, in addition to having backstage access to all the shows.
At first, Brazil was not awarded an “Iconic”, but according to Teo Connor, the platform has plans to bring the experience to the country. “We are thinking about making many more ‘Iconics’ in several other places, such as Brazil and other countries in Latin America, which is a very important market for us”, added the VP of Design.
Experiences are limited, both in terms of time and guests, and will be presented in their own category on the Airbnb home page, where a countdown will display the remaining time until that listing is available.
Guests who are selected to experience the “Iconics” will receive an exclusive invitation and, in total, 4 thousand of them will be delivered throughout 2024.
