A Volkswagen of Brazil and the Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products come together in a super-powerful partnership that transforms the SUVW Taos into a protagonist on Brazilian streets and roads. A reference in design, safety, technology and comfort, the ‘Volkswagen Taos’ becomes a superheroic model. All of this in a playful and very fun communication to delight audiences of all ages.
“The Volkswagen Taos is our benchmark SUV in safety. The insight into the campaign came as a proposal to explain features such as ACC with Stop&Go, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system with pedestrian detector, Blind Spot Detector (Blind Spot Monitoring), Lane Assist, among others, in a way simple: showing that the car has superpowers. And who better than Wonder Woman, one of the most beloved characters in the world, who transcends generations, to help us with this challenge? In this incredible partnership with Warner, Volkswagen do Brasil connects even more with people by uniting dreams and passions such as cinema, comic books and automobiles. The campaign is also a tribute to women, who sometimes need to have superpowers to face the challenges of their routines, always winning in the end”, says Lívia Kinoshita, Director of Marketing and Communications at Volkswagen do Brasil and South America Region.
Created by AlmapBBDO, the campaign has a film that tells the story through the lens of a little boy enchanted by his mother at the direction of SUVW Taos. He sees her as the real Wonder Woman. The production begins with the Taos braking extremely safely while mapping a pedestrian with his dog passing by the back of the car. From then on, attributes such as agility, safety and excellent reflexes become the vehicle’s superpowers.
“I’m a comic book fan, I’m a fan of superhero movies and I’m the father of a son and daughter who seem to believe their mother is a real superhero. It was from there that we created this roadmap to present all the safety features of the Volkswagen Taos”, comments Henrique Del Lama, executive director of Creation at AlmapBBDO.
With the motto ‘Taos. A car with superpowers’, the communication relies on a robust media strategy that involves broadcasting on Open TV, scheduled to premiere on May 12th (Mother’s Day), in addition to Pay TV, pieces on Meta and YouTube, in addition to complementing with programmatic and OOH media throughout Brazil.
Star Security
With the Taos, Volkswagen was the first automaker to obtain maximum safety scores in the new Latin NCAP testing protocol (2020-2024), which assesses the level of safety delivered by vehicles sold in Latin America and the Caribbean. The SUVW Taos achieved five stars in all requirements evaluated by the institute, considering the protection of adults, children and pedestrians, in addition to driver assistance systems.
Developed based on the MQB platform, which gives it excellent structural performance in crash test evaluations, the model is equipped with several cutting-edge driving assistants, notably the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system with Stop & Go , the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system with pedestrian detector, Blind Spot Detector (Blind Spot Monitoring) and Rear Exit Assistant, which alerts the driver when reversing at low speeds, such as when exiting a parking space perpendicular, detecting other vehicles crossing the rear, aiming to avoid a collision.
The model also has two exclusive items in the segment: Fatigue detector (system monitors driving style and issues an audible and visual warning if the driver shows signs of fatigue) and Post-collision braking system, which automatically brakes the vehicle. after a first collision, thus avoiding subsequent collisions. Additionally, the list of safety items includes six airbags, two front, two side and two curtain, Electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control (ASR) and Audible and visual warning for not using front seat belts. and rear
An SUVW that delivers everything!
Manufactured in the Pacheco industrial complex, in Argentina, the Taos is equipped with a 250 TSI engine and six-speed automatic transmission. With four cylinders, direct fuel injection system and turbocharger, the engine delivers 150 hp of power from 4,500 rpm and 25.5 kgfm of torque from 1,500 rpm, providing vigorous acceleration and intense restarts.
Taos is also a reference in internal space. The SUVW is 4,461 mm long, with an impressive 2,680 mm wheelbase, 1,625 mm high and 1,841 mm wide. With these measures, tall people travel comfortably in the back seat, without facing problems with knees rubbing against the front seat or heads touching the ceiling. Now that’s an SUVW!
