Amount represents almost double the amount invested in 2021, R$ 936 million
Nestlé announced that investments should exceed 1.8 billion throughout this year, an amount that represents almost double the amount invested in 2021, R$ 936 million. A considerable part of the value, 40% of the total, will be used in the construction of the new Nestlé Purina factory in Vargeão, in the west of Santa Catarina, announced in January.
The high investment in the animal feed brand follows the continuous growth of the sector. According to Abinpet (Brazilian Association of Products for Pets), food accounts for 75% of the pet market and generated more than BRL 27.02 billion in 2020.
For operations in the industry, such as new technologies, digital transformation and sustainable processes in factories and in the logistics chain, the company must allocate around R$ 1.1 billion. 90% of this amount will comprise new lines for capacity expansion, greater productivity and product innovation, in addition to energy efficiency solutions and the use of biomass instead of gas. The brand also estimates the application of resources for innovation in products and packaging.
According to Marcelo Melchior, ceo of Nestlé, it will be a year of many investments in innovation. “We are accelerating investments and anticipating projects in new lines and technologies that will allow us to expand capabilities and support the business strategies we designed for the period”, he says.
