Award celebrates brands that differentiate themselves in communications and marketing plans
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity will honor Unilever as this year’s Creative Marketer of the Year. The award celebrates brands that have managed to differentiate themselves through their communication and marketing plans considered innovative on a global scale and across platforms.
This is the second time that the brand has been honored, the first taking place in 2010.
“Unilever is consistently and continually pushing creative boundaries across a wide range of brands across different markets, in collaboration with diverse agency partners, demonstrating a clear understanding and commitment to the power of creativity as an engine of progress and growth. Congratulations on this well-deserved victory,” said Simon Cook, CEO of Cannes Lions.
In 2023, Dove, a Unilever brand, received the GP in the Media Lions category for its “#TurnYourBack” campaign, signed by Ogilvy in London with David in Madrid.
At the festival, the case was considered by category jury president Christian Juhl as a “timely example of how our industry can use the power of the media to protect young people, empower them to reject the pressure they feel to conform to artificial standards and have confidence in your true self.”

The executive will speak on Wednesday (19 June) and will receive the award on behalf of Unilever at the Festival’s last awards night, on Friday, 21 June.
Creative Marketer of the Year was launched in 1992 and has winners such as AB InBev, Apple, Burger King, Coca-Cola, Google, Heineken, IKEA, Mars, McDonald’s, Samsung and Microsoft.
