McDonald’s removes smile from Happy Meal to talk about mental health

Created by Ready10, the piece placed children at the center of the discussion to show the importance of talking about emotions

McDonald’s has removed the traditional smiley face from Happy Meal boxes. The movement is part of “The Meal” campaign, created for mental health awareness week.

The campaign, created by Ready10, put children at the center of the discussion to show the importance of talking about emotions and encouraging young people to talk about how they feel.

The network has also partnered with BBC Children in Need to launch an online hub dedicated to hosting resources to encourage conversations about children’s emotional wellbeing.
