The Deliberative Council of the Flamengo approved the renewal of the contract with the sporting equipment supplier, adidasuntil 2029. With the expansion, there will be 16 uninterrupted years of partnership in the supply of sports equipment.
“Our partnership with adidas has been a huge success for over 10 years. This union of two iconic brands in world football has generated excellent results for both parties. We are sure that the Mantles produced by adidas will continue to wear many more Flamengo athletes and fans in the coming years and will be immortalized in new great achievements”, said Gustavo Oliveira, vice-president of Communication and Marketing at the club.
With the renewal, the club should receive between R$70 and 90 million per year from the German brand. Flamengo will have a minimum guarantee of R$44 million per season paid in three installments (February, May and August). In addition, it will also pocket another R$13 million related to the retainer, a fee paid for exclusivity. There is also an obligation of a minimum amount of R$2 million for marketing actions.
Finally, there are also bonus clauses in cases of titles in men’s and women’s football. Flamengo is still competing in the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores this season. adidas’ last agreement with Flamengo was announced in 2022 and was valid until 2025. At current values, the club was already at the top of the most profitable agreements for the supply of sports equipment.
“The new agreement reinforces a very successful partnership, consolidated by the launch of shirts that have gone down in history, in some of the club’s most important moments. More than the achievements experienced on the field, we had the opportunity to jointly develop new and desired products, including exclusive sneakers, special projects such as Pink October and Black Excellence, the Originals line, special collaborations and the recent Fan Jersey. Our goal will always be to offer the most diverse and qualified line of products with credibility in football and in the lifestyle of the three stripes for the passionate Rubro-Negra Nation”, highlights João Meyer, senior director of Marketing at adidas Brasil.
