As announced in January, Samsung’s ‘Open Always Wins’ campaign message articulates the brand’s belief that being open allows for new perspectives and endless possibilities, and will serve as the heart of its programming for the Paris 2024 Games. brings ‘Open Always Wins’ to life through the stories of French Team Samsung Galaxy skateboarder Aurélien Giraud, German Paralympic sprinter Johannes Floors and French breakdance dancer Sarah Bee, and demonstrates how being open makes it possible to achieve the extraordinary.
“As a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, Samsung has been driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge technology and experiences to the Games for almost 40 years. The way we enjoy the Games has evolved dramatically over time, with technology playing a key role in bringing the Olympic spirit to life. This is even more true as we embark on the ‘Whole Open Games’, and we are excited to bring fans and Olympians closer than ever before by opening up new experiences and meaningful connections at the Paris 2024 Games with our ‘Open Always Wins’ campaign ,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.
In creating this event, Samsung collaborated with visionary Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, whose innovative work reflects the remarkable spirit of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, constantly challenging limits and redefining possibilities. “The entire space was designed to celebrate Samsung’s commitment to openness. The abstract graphic facade captures the reflections of movements and lights that appear and disappear in an instant, while the matte white and reflective mirrors in the lobby invite you to discover the latest innovations,” said Jean Nouvel.
The ‘Olympic rendezvous @ Samsung | Champs-Elysées 125’ was opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which was attended by TM Roh, Team Samsung Galaxy ambassadors including French surfer Joanne Defay, British breakdancer Karam Singh and French para-swimmer Ugo Didier. In addition to them, the director of Television and Marketing Services at the IOC, Anne-Sophie Voumard, the deputy mayor responsible for Sport, Olympic and Paralympic Games of the City of Paris, Pierre Rabadan, and the general director of the Paris Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Étienne Thobois

“Samsung supports and celebrates with the skateboarding, breaking and surfing communities as they make their incredible journey to the Olympic Games. The future for female surfers is really bright and the Olympic Games give us that long-term vision,” said French surfer Johanne Defay. “It’s an unmissable opportunity to show the world what surfing really is. Not just our skill on the waves, but also what we stand for as a community: a commitment to giving back to the sport and the planet, and the documentary “The Next Wave” truly honors that.”
According to American surfer John John Florence, what makes this community so special is the fact that everyone looks out for each other. He highlighted that it is exciting, through this document, to be able to open up the community he is part of to the world.
“Finding Skate was like falling in love for the first time,” said Rayssa Leal (Skate, Brazil). I’m really excited to share our story in this documentary and show girls what skateboarding is all about.”
