“Blacks in their proper place” initiative pays homage to the player Vinicius Jr. and features a clip that features images from the athlete’s career
Important names in funk and rap such as Ludmilla, MC Ryan SP, Mc Livinho, MC Davi, MC Hariel, MC Don Juan and Ice Blue, from Racionais, joined player Vinícius Jr. for the release of the manifesto song “Os pretos no due place.”
The initiative, created by Rodrigo Oliveira, CEO of GR6, with support from Vivo, aims to amplify the anti-racist fight.
Furthermore, GR6 is also responsible for releasing the clip, which is directed by Vitinho Tavares and Leo Vale, director of GR6 Filmes. The video tells the story of Vini Jr’s life, from childhood to his success as a football player, and the narrative was intertwined between homemade and striking images from his career with recordings of the artists made in the production company’s own studio.
The song is now available on all digital platforms, such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Amazon Music, TikTok Music, Youtube and Youtube Music. All content will be distributed by the GR6 Music record label and publisher with Virgin Music Group.
“I decided to bring together the most popular artists among young people in the country that we have here at the GR6 casting to show solidarity and encourage Vini Jr in this act against racism. Despite the lonely journey he is going through in Europe, here in Brazil we know that he is a reality for many too and this song is a reminder that he is not alone and we are moving from here to fight together for such an important cause”, explained Oliveira.
In the case of Vivo, the brand is activating Presença Preta, a project created in 2022 with the aim of reinforcing the representation of black people among the public at music festivals.
“We believe in the power of music as a universal language to expand the reach of the anti-racist fight, a genuine and consistent agenda within Vivo”, added Marina Daineze, Director of Brand and Communication at Vivo.
