Envira Amazônia Project seeks to reduce the emission of more than 12.5 million tons of CO2.
With the aim of raising awareness in the communication industry about ESG (acronym in English to define actions related to the environment, social and governance) and inspiring this initiative, the CHICOOH+, the first OOH/DOOH trading desk in Brazil, begins to neutralize carbon emissions in its operations, with the seal and certification of the Carbon Free Brasil seal. Furthermore, CHICOOH+ also offers the possibility for advertising brands to participate in this action and choose to neutralize carbon emissions, depending on the particularity of each campaign strategy, which will be calculated by the Carbon Free Brasil technical team.
The Carbon Free Brasil seal represents business commitment to environmental sustainability, certifying organizations that recognize and act on their role in climate change. Carbon credits are also certified by one of the main international carbon market certifiers, VERRA. Carbon neutralization involves the removal of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, emitted during various activities, and their subsequent absorption through forest and forest preservation initiatives. In the case of CHICOOH+, the company supports “Envira Amazônia”, which is a project certified by the VERRA/VCS and CCBS Gold standard, (The Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance). Envira Amazônia develops actions in favor of the local community with activities to improve the lives of those who live in the project area, in Feijó (AC), and should reduce the release of more than 12.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions , at the same time, preserving habitat for biodiversity and directly benefiting local communities.
For Chico Preto, CEO of CHICOOH+, thinking about initiatives that improve the planet and the environment are important parts of good outdoor media campaign planning, which connects with cities and people.
“As communications companies, we have a significant influence on the way people think, act and perceive the world around them. With this influence comes a great responsibility to be agents of positive change. By reducing our carbon footprint, we are doing our part to mitigate the impacts of climate change and preserve the planet for generations to come,” said the CEO.
In this way, CHICOOH+ is committed to offsetting CO2 emissions resulting from the company’s operations. The monitoring of Envira Amazônia’s actions and other initiatives linked to certification are supervised by a specialized technical team from Carbon Free Brasil, including biologists and environmental engineers.
“We know that outdoor media is extremely relevant in the advertising market and reaches more than 90% of people across the country. Therefore, being engaged in issues such as neutralization and promoting sustainable practices is an important factor in reaching more people”, concludes Chico Preto.
