New architecture and decoration, as well as a new menu, mark the restaurant’s 27 years in the country.
In 1997, or Outback arrived in Brazilian territory with its first unit located in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. The restaurant, affectionately nicknamed “Casinha” by the Rio public, largely due to its architecture inspired by Australian ranches, has become a symbol of the region and of the brand that celebrates 27 years in Brazil in 2024. To celebrate this milestone, the unit was completely transformed and reopened its doors on May 30th with a new Outback concept that aims to surprise and delight customers even more with an innovative and sustainable architectural design, combined with an exclusive menu and other service innovations, all to offer an experience unique and memorable to the local public.
“Outback has been in Brazil for 27 years and, since then, we have been the casual dining brand that has brought many innovations and delighted many Brazilian customers. The time has come to take the next step in our innovative and enchanting DNA, where we will continue to provide our customers with a break from their routine, enchantment and escapism”, comments Raquel Paternesi, Marketing Director at Bloomin’ Brands, the group that owns the Outback brand. in Brazil.
A new concept
The restaurant already shows its new features on the façade, which was inspired by the restaurant’s characteristic green roof, which now has a more technological and futuristic look. Upon entering, customers will come across a new bar, with decor inspired by a true journey through Australia, providing a truly adventurous and different atmosphere.
The interior decoration now also includes Bloomin’ Onion-shaped lamps, inspired by the Waratah, the Australian desert flower, and elements such as benches with jeep roof racks and the original Little House logo upstairs, referring to the history of the place. Furthermore, playful elements such as a kangaroo built with building blocks and which has more than 79 thousand pieces, as well as a super kids area with toys inspired by Australian fauna and flora, make the space even more welcoming for families.
Another highlight of Casinha is Outback’s attentive look at sustainability, using plastic wood in several parts of the restaurant. The architects chose to use CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) wooden structures for pillars and beams, reducing the carbon footprint and generating less waste. Furthermore, wood from reforestation was used for the bar top.
“The new Outback Casinha is a way to pay homage to our Australian roots and our connection with Brazil, but presenting a new way to delight consumers. This transformation is also one of the ways to express gratitude for the support and affection received by Brazilians throughout our 27 years in the country”, adds Raquel Paternesi.
